Galette is nothing but a free form pie, in which you dont want a pie dish or a tart pan..So it is easy and kind of rustic. But the taste is so delicious..I added few extra ingredients in my filling like cinnamon, lemon juice and it all worked together beautifully in my butter rich pastry..

Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you..

    Preparation Time : 15 mins
Pastry Chilling Time : 1 hour
    Baking Time : 35 to 45 mins
Makes : 2 medium size galette

    Ingredients:

Short Crust Pastry - ½ a batch (RECIPE HERE)
    Sugar - 2 tblspn
Unsalted Butter - 2 tblspn melted

    For Filling:
    Apples - 2 to 3 ( i used gala)
    Lemon Juice - 1 tsp
    Cinnamon - 1 tsp
    Sugar - 4 tblspn
    Melted Butter - 2 tblspn
Jam - 2 tblspn or as needed ( i used strawberry)

    Method:

Preheat oven to 200 degree C.. Line a baking sheet with foil and butter it really well. Set aside.

Peel, chop, deseed apple and slice them thinly.

Take them in a bowl, add in sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, melted butter and toss well.

Now take your pastry, divide it into two portions. Roll each dough between two sheets of plastic wrap thinly.

Now peel the top layer of plastic. flip it over a well buttered foil lined baking sheet. Peel off the top layer as well.

Now spoon a tblspn of jam on to them and spread it, leaving a border around the edges.

Now arrange the apples and bring the pastry in to create a border. Seam the edges as well.

Now brush the edges with butter, sprinkle some sugar on top of apples and drizzle some butter as well.

Bake this for 35 to 45 mins untill the pastry is golden and apples is cooked and the tart is bubbly.

Remove it from oven and let it sit for 10 mins.

Now remove it from tray and serve with a scoop of icecream.
