Baked beans recipe with step-by-step pictures. This is the Indian style baked beans recipe made using Indian black eyed peas. The flavouring for the baked beans has onions, garlic, green chilies, tomatoes and Indian spice powders. This delicious baked beans recipe can be served with toast.
Soak black eyed peas for 4 to 6 hours. Take the beans in the pressure cooker cover it with water and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles. Let the pressure release by itself open the cooker check whether the beans are cooked. Set aside.
Mix tomato ketchup, brown sugar and mustard. Set aside.
Heat oil in a pan. Add in garlic, onion, bell peppers and green chilies sauté for 4 to 5 minutes. Add and spice powders and salt mix really well. Add in tomato puree mix well. cover and cook for 5 to 10 minutes.
Add in the beans along with any cooking liquid. Pour in the tomato ketchup sauce and mix really well. Cover and cook on very low heat for 20 to 30 minutes.
Finally add in some coriander leaves and serve.
