Chia coffee is a delicious coffee which is perfect for breakfast because it provides the caffeine you need for the day and the health benefits of chia seed. This cold chia coffee is my latest obsession after my homemade chia pudding recipe. Learn how to make cold chia coffee with step by step pictures and video.
Start by blooming the chia seed. Take chia seeds in a bowl, add in ¼ cup of cold water over the chia and allow it to sit for 15 to 30 minutes for it to bloom. Usually I leave this in fridge overnight.
Take coffee, sugar and hot water in a bowl and mix well till sugar is melted. This is your coffee syrup.
Now Add coffee syrup to the blender along with cold milk. Blend till creamy. Add the bloomed chia seeds and mix well using a spoon.
Take a serving glass, drizzle sides of glass with chocolate sauce. Pour the cold chia coffee in and enjoy.
Notes
Chia seeds has to be bloomed before using, else it may absorb too much liquid.
You can add a spoon of cocoa powder for making mocha iced coffee.
Coconut milk can be used instead of regular milk for coconut flavoured coffee.
Honey, brown sugar, maple syrup and agave can be used instead of regular sugar.
You can make a jar of bloomed chia seed and store in fridge.
