Ingredients

  • Mixed Nuts - 2 cups I used a mix of cashews, pistachios, walnuts, almonds and hazelnuts
  • Dates - 10
  • Brown Sugar or Palm Sugar - ½ cup
  • Warm Milk - 1 ½ cup
  • Ghee - ¼ cup

Instructions

  • Take nuts and dates in a bowl, Add in warm milk and let it soak for 30 mins.
  • Now take it in a blender and puree till smooth.
  • Heat 1 tblsp ghee in a kadai. Add in pureed nuts. Saute for 5 mins on low heat till the raw smell leaves.
  • Now add in sugar or jaggery and mix well. Keep cooking on low heat till sugar melts and halwa thickens.
  • Now add ghee little at a time and keep cooking till halwa leaves the sides of the pan. It will take around 8 to 10 mins.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

1)You can soak nuts and dates for 1 hour for better grinding.
2)Grind the paste coarse if you want halwa with little texture.
3)Add ghee little at a time and keep cooking.
4)You can add more dates if you want to reduce sugar.
5)This halwa taste good the next day,
6)You can add cardamom powder if you like that flavour.
7)Adding a little saffron would enhance the flavour.
