Ingredients

Toor Dal / Tuvaram Paruppu - ½ cup
▢
Water - 1.5 cup
▢
Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
▢
Salt to taste
▢
Sugar - 1 tsp
▢
Coriander leaves - 3 tblsp chopped finely
▢
Lemon Juice to taste
FOR SEASONING:
▢
Ghee - 1 tblsp
▢
Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - ½ tsp
▢
Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - ½ tsp
▢
Peanuts - 1 tblsp
▢
Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya podi - a pinch
▢
Curry leaves - a sprig
▢
Dry Red Chillies - 2
▢
Tomato - 1 chopped finely
▢
Green Chillies - 1 chopped finely
Instructions
▢
Take dal, water, turmeric powder in a pressure cooker and cook for 3 to 4 whistle. Set aside and mash the dal roughly.
▢
Now heat ghee in a pan, add mustard, cumin and let them sizzle. Add peanuts and fry for a min.
▢
Add in asafoetida, dry red chillies and curry leaves.
▢
Add in tomatoes, chillies and saute till tomatoes gets soft.
▢
Add in dal, salt, sugar and mix well.
▢
Add in coriander leaves and lemon juice and mix well.
▢
Serve.
