Homemade Icing Sugar | How to Make Confectioners Sugar at Home
Homemade Icing Sugar is made using regular sugar and cornflour | cornstarch. You can use this to make for frostings and dessert making. All you need is granulated sugar and cornstarch which is powdered together till super fine texture. Best and easy hack to have on hand when you run out of icing sugar.
Take both sugar and cornstarch in a blender and blend for 3 to 4 mins till it is powdered really really fine.
Take the mixture in a fine mesh sieve and sift them. You have to use fine mesh sieve for sifting to achieve super fine icing sugar. Repeat the sifting for atleast 2 to 3 times to get super fine icing sugar.
Store it in an air tight container. Use this for frosting, icing or recipes that calls for icing sugar.
Notes
Use cornstarch and not cornflour. Don't add more than the mentioned amount. else your icing sugar might have a floury taste.
Use fine mesh sieve to sift the mixture to get super fine confectioners sugar.
if your blender is not that powerful, It is important to blend the sugar for atleast 3 to 4 minutes.
If you need flavoured icing sugar, you can add some vanilla powder when blending the sugar.
Storage & Serving
Store it in an air tight container for upto 3 months. Use this for frosting, icing or recipes that calls for icing sugar.
