Indian Onion Salad Recipe (Laccha Pyaaz Recipe, Laccha Onions)
Laccha pyaaz also known as Indian Onion salad or Laccha onions is a simple and easy side dish for roti, paratha or phulka. Made with raw onions, spices, lemon, mustard oil, this onion salad is flavour packed and quite addictive.
Take onions, peel off the skin and wash them well. Now use a knife or mandolin slicer to slice onions thinly.
Place the sliced onions in a bowl. Cover with water and add few ice cubes into it. Add in 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and let the onions sit for 15 minutes. This step makes the onions mellow and removes the pungent onion taste.
Now Strain the onion through a sieve and let the extra water strain off for 5 minutes.
Take the onion slices in a bowl. Add in all the ingredients and toss gently to combine using your hands.
Serve immediately with roti.
