Kalakand Sweet Recipe is a popular sweet originated in Alwar, Rajasthan. This sweet is made purely with milk and milk based ingredients. Making halwai style traditional kalakand requires time and patience, but this version which I have shared here is instant and can be made in less than 20 minutes and just 6 ingredients used with store bough paneer, sweetened condensed milk and milk powder.
Line a square pan with parchment paper and grease with ghee if needed. Set aside.
If you are using store bought paneer, rinse them really well in water to remove the outer brine. Pat them dry and cut into pieces.
Take paneer in a mixer and blend it. Take it in a bowl, add in milk powder, condensed milk, sugar, cardamom and mix well. The mixture will be thick and looks creamy.
Pour this entire mix in a non stick pan and mix well. Keep cooking on low heat till it starts to leave the sides. It will take just 5 to 7 minutes. Cook on very low heat only.
Once the mixture gets thick, leaves the sides of the pan. Add in a teaspoon of ghee and mix well.
Once it leaves the side of the pan, pour this into a parchment lined pan and spread evenly. Place this in fridge and allow it to set for 3 to 4 hours.
Once it is set, remove from the pan and place on a cutting board. cut it into squares stud each square with a pistachios.
Serve.
