Matar Tofu Recipe | Tofu Peas Masala (Curry Recipe)
Tofu peas curry also known as matar tofu is a vegan version of the classic North Indian matar paneer recipe. It is made with green peas and tofu instead of paneer. This homestyle version is lighter and less creamy than typical North Indian curries, which makes it healthier for everyday meals. It pairs wonderfully with rice, roti, naan, paratha or with jeera rice.
Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add in the whole spices and let them sizzle. Add in ginger and garlic paste and saute for a minute until raw smell leaves. Now add in tomatoes and cook till raw smell leaves away and oil separates from the mixture.
Add in the spice powders except garam masala powder and cook for 2 minutes. Now add in green peas along with 2 cups of water. Season with salt and sugar to taste. Cover and pressure cook for 1 whistle. Turn off heat and let the pressure release by itself. Open the cooker and check whether peas are cooked.
Now add in tofu cubes and simmer for 5 minutes in the curry. Add in garam masala powder and coriander leaves and mix well. Thats it matar tofu is ready to serve.
