Pineapple Masala Drink Recipe

Pineapple masala drink is also known as masala fruit shikanji in North India especially in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the popular summer drinks made with spices and black salt. It is a perfect thirst quencher during these summer days. This recipe is so simple as it requires minimal ingredients like fresh fruit, cumin, chaat masala, lemon and salt. You can also try with other seasonal fruits like mango, watermelon and grapes.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Pineapples peeled & cubed
  • 2 tablespoon Sugar
  • ½ teaspoon Roasted Cumin Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Chaat Masala Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Black Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice
  • Icecubes as needed
  • Ice Cold Water as needed

Instructions

  • Take all the ingredients except icecube and water in a blender. Puree till smooth. Add water if too thick.
  • Place few ice cubes in a serving glass, pour juice over it and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use full ripened pineapple for sweet and delicious drinks. ● Dry roast the cumin and grind them into powder before making the juice. 
  • For a chill and refreshing drink, make sure to chill water, ice cubes, and fruits a day in advance. 
  • For a fizzy taste, try replacing water with soda. 
  • Grilled pineapples offer a tender and more sweet taste to the juice than the raw pineapple. 

Storage

Pineapple masala drink is best to consume when freshly prepared. This drink may last for a day when stored in the refrigerator. Also shake well before serving, as the ingredients may settle under. Use a stirrer or spoon to mix evenly. 

Serving

Serve the pineapple masala drink in a glass and garnish with mint leaves, lemon wedge or pineapple slice for presentation. It makes it visually appealing to drink. You can also serve it along by adding soda for the fizzy version.
