    Pineapple Masala Drink

I have never tasted any drink with chat masala or black salt in it. I wanted to make it for quite a long time. But somehow kept on forgetting it. Few weeks back, i saw half a pineapple lying in the fridge from my previous day pineapple ginger juice, so i thought of using that to try this one. I am glad that i tried it, because it turned out so yummy.

    About Pineapple Masala Drink

Shikanji is a refreshing Indian lemonade juice made with lemon, sugar, water, salt, spice and mint. It is generally prepared with different fruit options like watermelon, pineapple, mango and grapes. Nimbu pani and shikanji are referred to as Indian lemonade, they both share the same core ingredients, but shikanji additionally includes spices like chaat masala, cumin and black salt.

I have never tasted or tried a drink that includes chaat masala and black salt. When I came across this recipe, Initially I was a little hesitant to give it a try. A few weeks ago, I noticed a half pineapple was left in the refrigerator when I made the pineapple ginger juice recipe. Instead of throwing it away, I just thought of giving it a try with this masala drink recipe. And to my surprise it turns out absolutely delicious!

Pineapple masala drink is a refreshing Indian drink that combines the tropical sweetness of pineapple with the zesty and spicy flavours of traditional shikanji. This sweet, tangy and spicy pineapple shikanji is perfect for summer days and is a must try tropical drink with an Indianized twist.

Also the best part is the recipe is so versatile that you can try with other seasonal fruits and spice level can also be adjusted when serving to kids. It is a kind of a recipe that is more reliable, refreshing and a crowd pleaser. The health benefits of pineapple, lemon and black salt makes it a guilt free drink.

Balanced flavours : The sweetness of the pineapple blends beautifully with the tanginess of lemon and savoury flavours of spices that are used which creates a refreshing summer drink that satisfies your summer palates.

    Ingredients

Pineapple : Fresh pineapple provides the tropical flavour and adds more vibrant color to the drink. Pineapples are rich in vitamin C which helps in digestion and has more nutritional value. Canned pineapples can also be used for your convenience but fresh always works the best.

Sugar : Sugar helps to balance the tanginess of lemon and tartness of pineapple. You can adjust the sugar quantity according to your taste buds and also for healthier options it can be substituted with jaggery powder, palm sugar, honey, coconut sugar and agave.

Roasted cumin powder : Cumins are generally known for their digestive health benefits. In this drink, roasted cumin powder is added to give a warm, earthy flavour to the juice.

Chaat masala : Chaat masala powder is a mix of sweet, tangy and spicy blend. Adding to the juice gives a bold flavour which elevates the taste to the next level.

Black salt : Black salt is rich in minerals, low in sodium, which has a distinct flavour and aroma than regular salt. It has detox properties naturally, which helps in digestion and reduces bloating.

Lemon juice : Lemon juice adds a zesty kick to the juice and also balances the sweet and sour flavour of pineapple and spice mix.

Water and Ice cubes : Water is essential for blending all the ingredients in the mixer. Adjust the water according to your preferred consistency. Ice cubes are added to make it more cooling. You can also substitute with coconut water or fizzy sodas.

    Hacks

Grilling the fruit : To enhance the flavour of the drink, you can use grilled pineapple. To start grilling, chop the pineapple into cubes and place them on a grill pan. This helps to tenderize the pineapple. Before putting into the blender, cool the grilled pineapples completely.

Blending : In a blender, combine the raw or grilled pineapple, little water, spices, salt and lemon juice. Blend until smooth.

Strain the pulp : If you want to remove any pulp, strain the juice using a mesh sieve. This helps to discard any seeds or pulp.
