  • Besan Flour / Gram Flour / Kadalai Mavu - 1 ¼ cup
  • Urad Dal powder / Ulundu Mavu - ⅓ cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Baking Soda - ⅛ tsp
  • Oil - 2 tblspn for deep frying
  • Warm water as needed
  • Wheat flour for rolling
  • For Spice Powder:
  • Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
  • Black Salt - 1 tsp
  • Amchoor Powder / Dry Mango Powder - 1 tsp


  • Take gram flour, urad dal mavu, salt, baking soda and mix well.
  • Take water and heat it till warm, add in oil and pour this over the flour and knead well till it gets smooth. Set aside for 10 mins.
  • Take dough in a board, sprinkle with wheat flour and roll it thin.
  • Cut it into strips.
  • Heat oil for deep frying and drop in hot oil. It will puff up.
  • Fry till crispy and remove it. Sprinkle with spice powder mix and serve.
