Sambar Rice Recipe | Pressure Cooker Sambar Sadam Recipe
Sambar Rice also known as sambar sadham or sambar satham is a South Indian comfort food. It is a nutritious wholesome meal made with rice, lentil, vegetables making it an one pot wonder meal.
Wash rice and dal well in lots of water. Cover with fresh water and let them soak for 15 minutes.
Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add in the tempering ingredients and saute for a minute. Let them sizzle. Now add in onions, tomatoes and toss well. Cook them for 5 mins.
Now add in salt, jaggery and all the spice powders given and saute them for a minute until raw smell leaves. Now add in all the veggies and toss well with the masala.
Pour in water. Add in dal, rice and tamarind extract. Bring this to a boil and cover the pressure cooker.
Pressure cook for 5 whistle and simmer for 5 mins. Now switch off the flame and let them steam escape all by itself.
Open the cooker, Drizzle in some ghee and mix well. Serve with papad and pickle.
