Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rolled Oats use old fashioned or rolled
  • 3 cups Water
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar or Honey to taste
  • ½ teaspoon Vanilla Extract or Cardamom Powder

Instructions

  • Take oats in a bowl, add in 2 cups of water and soak them for 30 mins.
  • Now take them in a blender and puree them coarsely. Strain this through a sieve and take the pulp back in the blender and 1 cup more water and puree again. Strain this again. Now discard the pulp.
  • Strain the milk one more time to remove any residual pulp.
  • Add in sugar and vanilla extract or ground cardamom to taste which is optional. Chill in fridge for couple of hours.
  • Serve cold.

Notes

  • Don’t discard the strained oat pulp. Use it for baking like muffin, cupcakes.
  • Use muslin cheese cloth or fine mesh strainer to strain the milk.
  • The stored oat milk naturally separates, so shake them well before using.
  • Add natural flavours like vanilla extract, cardamom powder, saffron, maple syrup, cocoa powder to enhance the taste of oat milk.
  • While grinding, add some soaked cashews to make a thick, creamy milk.
