Peanut Butter Banana Sandwich Recipe

This Peanut Butter Banana Sandwich is a warm, comforting, and easy-to-make sandwich that's perfect for a quick breakfast, snack, or even a kid's lunch box. It's made using basic pantry ingredients: peanut butter, banana, bread, and butter. But when cooked on a pan until golden and crispy, it transforms into something much more indulgent. The peanut butter melts slightly, the banana turns soft and warm, and the bread becomes crisp and buttery. It’s a fuss-free sandwich that brings together flavor, comfort, and nutrition in one bite. Plus, it takes less than 10 minutes to make from start to finish, which makes it ideal for busy mornings or late-night cravings.

Equipment

  • cooking pan

Ingredients

  • 2 slices Bread I used wheat
  • 1 no Ripe Banana peeled & sliced thinly
  • 2 tablespoon Peanut Butter
  • 1 tablespoon Butter

Instructions

  • Pre-Prep - Begin by slicing a ripe banana into a small bowl and mashing it with a fork, not too smooth, just enough to keep some chunks for texture. Then get my bread slices, peanut butter, and butter ready on the counter so I don’t have to reach for anything while cooking.
  • Assembling the Sandwich - Spread a generous layer of peanut butter on one side of each bread slice. Then, spoon the mashed banana onto one slice and spread it out evenly. Finally, close the sandwich by placing the second slice on top, peanut butter side down.
  • Toasting on the Pan- Warm a pan on medium heat and melt about a tablespoon of butter in it. Once it sizzles slightly, place the sandwich in and gently press it down with a spatula. Cook both sides for 1–2 minutes until the bread is golden and the filling is warm and melty.
  • Serving- Once it’s nicely toasted, remove the sandwich and let it rest for a moment. Then slice it diagonally and serve it warm while the peanut butter is still gooey, it tastes best this way.

Notes

Use room-temperature butter – Cold butter is harder to spread and can tear the bread, especially if it’s soft or fresh. Letting the butter sit out for a few minutes before using makes it much easier to apply evenly. This also helps the bread toast more uniformly without burning in spots.
Don’t over-mash the banana – It’s best to mash the banana just enough so it’s spreadable but still has a few small chunks. That little bit of texture adds a nice bite and keeps the sandwich from becoming too mushy. Plus, you get bits of sweet banana flavor in every mouthful.
Storage
This sandwich tastes best fresh and warm, right off the pan. But if you're packing it for a lunchbox or on-the-go meal, wrap it in foil to keep it warm and slightly crisp. If needed, you can reheat it in a dry pan for about a minute on each side, just avoid microwaving, as it softens the bread too much.
Serving Ideas
Serve this sandwich with a cup of hot milk, masala chai, or cold coffee for a cozy and satisfying combo. If you want something on the side, pair it with some fruit salad or yogurt for a little freshness. It also makes a great post-school snack or a quick breakfast when you're in a rush but still want something filling.
