Peas Kurma Recipe also known as pattani kurma is a simple curry made without coconut, tomatoes, yogurt to create a creamy peas kurma. This curry can be made in less than 30 minutes and goes perfectly well with chapati, pulao or idiyappam.
Start by making the masala paste. Heat oil in a pan, add in fennel seeds, cinnamon, ginger, garlic and stir fry for 1 minute. Add in onions, cashews and saute for 2 minutes until onions get slightly translucent.
Now cool this down completely. Take this mixture in a blender and make into a fine paste. set aside.
Now in the same pot, add in 3 tablespoon oil and allow it to get hot. Reduce the heat to low and add in turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and garam masala powder. Stir this for 5 seconds.
Add in the ground onion paste and stir into the spices. Cook this for 2 minutes with the spices. Pour in enough water to form the gravy.
Add in green peas, salt, sugar and mix well. Bring it to a full boil, cover and cook for 5 to 6 minutes until the green peas is cooked.
Now take it off the heat, add in lemon juice and coriander leaves. Mix well. Serve with poori, idiyappam or roti.
