Ingredients

  • ½ cup Foxtail Millet (thinai arisi)
  • ¼ cup Yellow Moong Dal / Pasi Paruppu
  • 3 cup Water
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • For Seasoning:
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • ½ tsp Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam
  • 5 Cashew
  • 1 tsp Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu
  • 1 Green Chilli chopped
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves

Instructions

  • Take ghee in a pan, add foxtail millet and moong dal and roast for 1 min. Take it in a bowl and add water to it. Now place this inside a pressure cooker which has some water in it and pressure cook for 10 to 12 whistle. Now turn off the heat and let the steam go by itself. Open the cooker and remove the bowl carefully from it. Open it and mash it roughly.
  • Now heat ghee in a pan, add all seasoning ingredients and fry for a min.
  • Add the cooked millets and salt. mix well.
  • Serve with chutney or sambar.
