    Fried spicy fish finger is a crispy and flavourful seafood snack which is made using boneless fish strips. It is marinated in spices , coated in breadcrumbs and deep fried until golden. This popular Indian style fish finger recipe is perfect for an appetizer or evening snacks.

    This fried spicy fish finger can be easily served with ketchup or mint Mayo. This dish is also a great way to introduce dish to kids and adults who doesn’t not like fish.

    Even though I am not a big fan of fish, I love to order this at restaurant along with my bowl of soup. It is one of my favorite. I always wanted to try this and post in this blog, but I am not sure why I didn't do it till now. Ah ya, I got the reason, hubby loves fish a lot, he gets fish at least twice a week. But the one thing which he ask me to do is this kulambu, he don't want me to try anything else than that. Now you got it, he is the culprit.

    But couple days back, when he got me fish, I saved few pieces to make this fingers. When I gave him this he really liked it. So here is the recipe for you.

    About Fish Finger

    Fried spicy fish fingers are popular food which is loved for their crispy texture and bold flavour. This recipe transforms simple fish pieces into a crunchy snack using a spiced breadcrumb coating which adds extra taste and crunch.

    This is a versatile dish that fits into any party platter or evening snack menu. We can easily adjust the spice level or even bake them instead of frying for a lighter option. 

    This dish can be made using everyday ingredients. Just basic spices, flour and breadcrumbs are enough for making this recipe. You should use firm and boneless fish like seer or tilapia. This fry recipe doesn’t require long resting or preparation time. Which makes it perfect for instant cravings. kid friendly and party friendly one. The finger shape of the dish makes it fun to eat for kids.

    Ingredients

    Fish (boneless strip): This is the main ingredient of the dish. Boneless fish strips are easy to eat, cook fast and stay soft and juicy inside.

    Chilli Powder: It adds spiciness, colour and flavour to the dish. 

    Lemon juice: It gives a fresh and tangy taste . Lemon helps to remove strong fishy smell.

    Salt: This enhances the overall taste of the dish 

    Breadcrumbs: It is used to coat the fish. It gives a crispy and crunchy Outer layer when fried.

    Corn starch: It is mixed with water to make a thin batter that helps the breadcrumbs stick well. It adds light crispness.

    Oil: This is used for deep frying the fish fingers until they turn golden and crispy.

    Extra Hacks

    • Choose firm and boneless fish. It holds shape while frying.
    • Pat fish dry before marinating. This helps the spices stick better and prevents extra moisture during coating.
    • Dip the fish twice in the cornflour and breadcrumbs if you like a thicker and crispier crust.
    • Fry the fish in medium to hot oil. Too hot oil will brown the outside too fast. Medium heat ensures even cooking.
    • Drain on wire rack instead of paper towel. It prevents the bottom from getting soggy after frying.

    Fish Fingers (Step by Step Pictures)

    Take any of your favorite fish, make sure it is cut
    into long pieces without any bone
    Cut that in half lengthwise
    Then cut each piece in half
    Add a touch of salt
    some chilli powder
    squeeze in some lemon juice
    mix well and let it marinate
    Take cornstarch in a bowl
    Add some salt and chilli powder
    Add some water to make into a paste
    Now take your breadcrumbs
    add salt and chilli powder to this as well
    mix well
    Take all the three stuffs
    Take a fish and dip in cornstarch mix
    now place them over breadcrumbs
    roll it
    All rolled
    Heat oil for frying
    Place the fingers in oil
    fry them till golden
    Drain them
    Serve with ketchup

    Equipment

    • Cooking pot

    Ingredients

    • 200 grams Fish Any Fish, Cut into long strips without any bones
    • ½ teaspoon Red Chilli powder
    • 2 teaspoon Lemon Juice
    • Salt to taste
    • Oil for Deep frying

    For Cornstarch batter

    • ¼ cup Corn starch
    • ½ teaspoon Red Chilli powder
    • 4 tablespoon Water or as needed
    • Salt to taste

    For Breadcrumbs Coating

    • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
    • 1 teaspoon Red Chilli powder
    • ½ teaspoon Salt

    Instructions

    • Take fish pieces and cut them like fingers. Now add salt, chilli powder and lemon juice. Marinate it for 10 mins.
    • Now take breadcrumbs in another bowl, add a pinch of salt and 1 teaspoon of chilli powder and mix well. Set aside.
    • Now take corn starch, a pinch of salt and ½ teaspoon of chilli powder in a bowl and add water to it. make it into batter. Set aside.
    • Now time to breadcrumb the fish. Take marinated fish and dip them in cornflour mix and coat them well in breadcrumb mix. Once it is all coated. set aside.
    • Now heat oil for frying and fry all the fish fingers till golden on both sides. It will take around 7 to 8 mins.
    • Remove them to a paper towel.
    • Serve with ketchup.

    Fish fry recipe: It is a simple and classic dish where fish slices are marinated with basic spices and shallow fried or deep fried until golden. It is quick to make and goes well with rice or as a starter.

    Masala fish fry recipe:  This version of fish fry uses a thick and spiced marinade with ingredients like ginger, garlic, chilli powder and coriander powder. The fish is coated in this masala and shallow fried for a flavourful and juicy result.

    Chilli fish dry recipe: It is an Indo- chinese style appetizer where fried fish pieces are tossed in a spicy sauce made with garlic, capsicum and soy sauce. It is tangy, spicy and a great dish served as a starter.

    Fish cutlets recipe: These are crispy patties which is made by mixing cooked fish with mashed potatoes, spices and herbs. They are shaped into rounds or ovals, coated in breadcrumbs and shallow or deep fried until golden and crunchy.

    Q: Can I make fish fingers without breadcrumbs?

    Yes. You can use crushed cornflakes or rava instead of breadcrumbs.

    Q: Can I bake the dish fingers?

    Yes. Place them on a greased tray and bake at 200°c for 15 to 20 mins until crispy.

    Q: How to store leftover fish fingers?

    Keep them in an airtight box in the fridge for upto 2 days. Reheat in an oven or air fryer to make them crispy again.

    Q: Why is the coating coming off while frying?

    Make sure the batter is not too thick. Let the coated fish rest for a few mins before frying.
