Pumpkin Green Gram Kootu Recipe
Ingredients
- Pumpkin - 3 cups cubed
- Green Gram - ½ cup
- Onion - 1 chopped finely
- Green Chillies - 2 chopped
- Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
FOR GRINDING:
- Coconut - 1 cup
- Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
- Dry Red Chillies - 3
FOR SEASONING:
- Coconut Oil - 3 tblsp
- Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
- Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1 tsp
- Dry Red Chillies - 2
- Curry Leaves a handful
Instructions
- Pressure cook green gram for 3 to 4 whistle till it is completely cooked. Set aside.
- Take pumpkin, onion, green chillies in a pot and add salt and turmeric powder.
- Cook till pumpkin is half cooked.
- Now add in green gram and mix well.
- Grind coconut masala.
- Add coconut masala and mix well.
- Cook till it thickens.
- Heat oil in a pan, add seasoning ingredients and let them sizzle.
- Pour it over the curry.
- Mix well. Serve.

4)Pressure cook green gram till soft and set aside.
5)Take pumpkin, onion and green chillies in a pot.
6)Add in salt and turmeric powder
7)Add water
8)Bring it to a boil
9)Cook till pumpkin is done.
10)Add green gram
11)Add coconut mix
12)Mix well
13)Cook till it thickens
14)Heat oil in a pan
15)Add in mustard seeds, urad dal.
16)Add in dry red chillies and curry leaves
17)Pour over the curry
18)Serve
