    Summer Porridge Recipe - Kodai Kanji Recipe with step wise pictures.

    Healthy and cooling porrigge made using rice and green gram with all yummy stuffs. This taste best with some spicy thogayal. Taste so refreshing.

    This is one of my favorite combo meals. Amma makes often. Porridge are very healthy for you, since they dont have any oil in it and it normally made with rice and some kind of dals, it taste heavenly and it is really good for you. I have posted a version kanji which is made with wheat. You can check out my wheat dal kanji too.

    Ingredients

    • Rice - 1 ½ cup
    • Green gram - ¾ cup
    • Garlic - 10 to 20 cloves peeled
    • Shallots / Sambar Onion - 10 peeled
    • Dry Red Chillies - 2
    • Curry leaves a handful
    • Black Pepper - 1 tsp
    • Fenugreek Seeds / Methi / Vendayam - ½ tsp
    • Coconut - 1 cup
    • Salt to taste
    • Water - 5 cups + more

    Instructions

    • Take all ingredients in pressure cooker and cook for 5 whistle.
    • Take it off the heat add salt and more water and adjust the consistency.
    • Serve hot with thogayal.

    3)Take green gram and rice in a pressure cooker

    4)Add in garlic, peeled shallots

    5)Add in curry leaves and dry red chillies

    6)Add fenugreek seeds

    7)Add in coconut

    8)Add in black pepper

    9)Add in water

    10)Cover and pressure cooker

    11)Pressure cook till done

    12)Add in water

    13)Mix well

    14)Add salt

    15)Mix well

    16)serve
