    Peanut Sundal Recipe with step by step pictures. This recipe is one of the varieties of prasadam prepared during the nine days festivities of Navratri.

    I should have posted this long before, but i ran out of time and i am rushing now, i still have few more recipes to be posted which i made for navrathri sorry for not sharing it before..Will post it in them coming weeks..

    Ingredients for Peanut Sundal Recipe (Verkadalai Sundal)

    • Raw Peanuts - 1 cup
    • Salt to taste
    • Coconut - 3 tbsp finely grated ( Optional )
    • Black pepper - 1 tsp crushed

    For Seasoning:

    • Oil - 1 tbsp
    • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
    • Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1 tsp
    • Asafoetida / Kaya Podi / Hing - ¼ tsp
    • Curry leaves - 1 sprig

    How to Make Peanut Sundal Recipe (Verkadalai Sundal)

    1. Wash and soak peanuts in lots of water overnight.
    2. Drain the water and add it to pressure cooker. Cover with fresh water. Pressure cook it for 5 whistle. Then simmer for 20 mins.
    3. Now switch off the flame and let the steam go all by itself. Open the pressure cooker and drain the water and set aside.
    4. Heat oil in a kadai. Add in seasoning ingredients and saute for a min.
    5. Now add in cooked drained peanuts and mix well.
    6. Add in salt and toss well.
    7. Then add in crushed pepper and mix well.
    8. Add coconut if needed and mix well.
    9. Serve.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup Raw Peanuts
    • Salt to taste
    • 3 tbsp finely grated Coconut Optional
    • 1 tsp crushed Black pepper
    • For Seasoning:
    • 1 tbsp Oil
    • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds / Kaduku
    • 1 tsp Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu
    • ¼ tsp Asafoetida / Kaya Podi / Hing
    • 1 sprig Curry leaves - 1 sprig

    Peanut Sundal Recipe Step by Step

    Take some raw peanuts
    Cover it with water and leave it to soak overnight
    Now it must have been doubled in size
    drain them and take them in a pressure cooker
    cover with water
    Cook till it is completely done
    drain it
    when you press a peanut between your fingers, it should mash up
    Now take your other ingredients
    Heat oil in a pan
    Add in mustard and urad dal 
    saute for a min
    add in curry leaves
    sprinkle some asafoetida
    mix well
    add in cooked peanuts
    some salt
    stir for 5 mins or so
    Now it is all mixed up
    sprinkle some pepper
    and some coconut
    mix well
    serve
