Turkey Coconut Roast Recipe / Vaan Kozhi Varuval Recipe

This is the roast which i made when i tried out the turkey curry. And it was a instant hit with the family. The flavour of coconut played a important role in this roast. It just coated all the turkey beautifully.Loved it to the core..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 1 hour 
Serves : 4

Ingredients:

For Cooking Turkey:
Turkey / Vaan Kozhi – 500 grams chopped
Salt to taste
Chilli Powder – 2 tsp
Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi – 1 tsp
Water – 1 cup

For Grinding:
Coconut – 1 cup grated
Fennel Seeds / Sombu / Saunf – 1 tblspn
Cinnamon / Pattai – 5 cm piece

For Masala:
Coconut Oil – 3 tblspn
Onion – 1 large sliced thinly
Green Chillies – 3 slit
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tblspn
Chilli Powder – 2 tsp
Coriander Powder / Malli Podi – 1.5 tblspn
Garam Masala Powder – 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Capsicum – 1 large sliced
Lemon Juice to taste
Coriander leaves a handful chopped

Method:
In a pressure cooker, take turkey, salt, chilli powder and turmeric powder. Add some water and pressure cook for 3 whistle. Then simmer the flame and cook for 15 mins. Now turn off the heat and let the pressure go all by itself. Open the cooker, drain the meat in a bowl. Use the liquid for soup or making rasam. 
Take coconut and other ingredients mentioned in a blender and make it into a coarse mix. Dont add water.
Heat oil in a kadai. Add in onions, chillies and saute till light golden.
Add in ginger garlic paste and saute for a min.
Add in salt, chilli powder, coriander and garam masala powder and saute for 30 sec or so.
Add in the meat and toss well in the masala. Keep cooking till it gets nice colour.
Add in capsicum and toss well for few more mins.
Add in coconut masala and mix well. Cook this for few more mins as well.
Add in lemon juice and coriander leaves.

Serve hot.

Pictorial:
Take your cleaned chopped turkey
Take it in a pressure cooker
Add in salt, chilli and turmeric powder
mix wel
add very little water 
cover and cook
now it is done
use a slotted spoon to remove the turkey alone
You dont need the liquid, you can use that
to make soup or rasam
Now take your other stuffs
take coconut in a blender
Add in cinnamon stick and fennel seeds
Grind it to a coarse mix, dont add water while grinding
Heat oil in a kadai, coconut oil is best
Add in onions and green chillies
saute till light golden
Add in ginger garlic paste and saute well
add in salt and chilli powder
now goes coriander powder
garam masala powder
mix well
Add in the cooked turkey
mix well with the masala and spices
keep cooking till it gets nice colour
Add in the chopped capsicum
mix well
Cook til the whole thing is golden
Add in the coconut masala
Mix well and cook for few more mins
squeeze some lemon juice
and add a good amount of coriander leaves

    Can turkey be substituted by chicken in this recipe?
