Potato Poppers Recipe / Potato Pops Recipe / Fried Potato Poppers Recipe / Mashed Potato Poppers Recipe

Another one inspirational recipe which i got from the mall, i have already posted a inspirational recipe of chicken strip burger. But this is from a shop called Chic King in that mall. When i tasted it first time, it was like amazing. I started thinking about the ingredients and stuffs which were there. I know it had potatoes, but it was so fluffy like a sponge. When i came back home, i thought of imitating the same one with my own recipe and to my surprise t some out so good and fluffy like that. The reason behind the fluffiness is from the flour baking soda and lemon juice. And it was so yummy, we finished the entire plate in 5 mins..So try this out and let me know how it turned for you..

Preparation Time : 20 to 30 mins
Cooking Time : 2 to 3 mins per batch + extra for cooking potatoes
Serves : 4 to 5

Potato - 2 large
Green Chilli - 1 chopped finely
Red Chilli Flakes - 1 tsp
Garlic - 2 cloves minced
Coriander Leaves / Cilantro - 4 tblspn Finely Chopped
Salt to taste
Sugar - 2 tsp
Baking Soda - 1 tsp
Lemon Juice - 2 tblspn
All Purpose Flour / Maida - 3 to 4 tblspn + extra for rolling
Oil for Deep Frying

Cook potatoes with skin till they are cooked, Let them cool down. Peel the skin and mash them.

Now take the mashed potatoes in a bowl. Add in all the ingredients except oil.

Mix well and shape it into a dough. It should be soft, not so sticky dough. Add more flourif needed.

Now dust your work surface with flour. Take a portion of dough and roll it into a log.

Cut it into small bite size portions. Roll those portions in flour to make small poppers. Repeat this with the remaining dough.
At this point You can arrange them in a baking sheet and pop it in freezer. When it is frozen, gather all of them in a ziploc bag and freeze. So you can fry them when you want.

Or you can fry them straight away.

Now heat oil for deep frying. The oil shouldn't be too hot. Drop the poppers in oil and fry till they turn golden, these poppers will puff a little in oil.

Now drain them in paper towel.

Serve these poppers with ketchup or mayo.

1)If your dough is sticky, then add more flour to make it smooth.
2) Cooking potatoes with skin will ensure that your potato dont absorb the cooking water.
3)After making the potatoes into pop shape. You can arrange them in a baking sheet and pop it in freezer. When it is frozen, gather all of them in a ziploc bag and freeze.
