As soon as i mentioned that i will post banana powder recipe for babies, i got so many mails asking to post them immediately. But i was difficult to find time to post it, finally i managed to get banana powder recipe and banana porridge recipe up at the same time..

This powder is so healthy, it helps in healthy weight gaining in your babies. Normally we feed ragi porridge for babies, and i am sure that babies will get bored because of the same food. So in order to make their food interesting and different, you can follow what i normally do.

I feed ragi porridge on one day, the next day i go for oats and apple porridge, then the next day i go for banana porridge, then i go for barley and apple porridge(recipe soon). This way your baby wont get bored of the same food. I am still looking for new food ideas for my baby. You can drop me a mail or comment if you have any recipes to share..

Few things you have to remember before making this.

1)The consistency of the porridge which you make totally depends on you. You can make it too runnier and pour it bottles and feed your baby or make it little thicker and feed your baby using a spoon.

2) I use panakarkandu or karupatti as sweetner. Karupatti strengthens your baby bones. Panakarkandu helps prevending cold for your babies. You can even mix up a small piece of both.

3)If you feed a good bowl of this for your baby. Your baby will sleep peacefully for a good 2 to 3 hours. It is that filling.

4)This wont cause constipation in babies. I am feeding this every alternate days to maha and she is passing stool daily.

How to sterilize baby feeding bowls:

Start by sterilizing the bowls and spoons which you are going to feed your baby. Take the bowl and spoon in a large saucepan, cover it with water and bring them to a boil. Boil it rapidly for 5 mins. Now you can turn the heat off and leave them stay in the hot water till use.

How to make Raw Banana Porridge:

FIRST CHECK THE RECIPE FOR HOMEMADE BANANA POWDER

Take a clean saucepan, add in 2 tblspn of karupatti. Now pour in 3/4 cup of clean water. Heat this up and cook untill the karupatti is melted.

Now take a clean bowl and add 2 scoops of banana powder. Add some clean water and mix it up till smooth.

Now place a fine mesh strainer over the bowl and Sieve the karupatti liquid through this. Mix this well.

I washed the saucepan in the meantime. Now pour this liquid again in the saucepan.

Heat this on a low flame stiring continously. Cook this for around 2 mins till the banana is cooked and thicken.

Take it off the heat, allow it to cool down and transfer it to feeding bowl or feeding bottle and feed your baby..

  2. Hi aarthi. ...its advised by peds that you should avoid giving the banana seeds to babies.....so when preparing the banana pieces for drying one should try removing most of the seeds (obviously all can't be removed)...The banana seeds are very hard to digest for babies...also try avoiding extra flavours to the food. .as the baby should know the natural flavour of each food...later when you'd try feeding her banana as such, she will not like the taste and ask for sugar or other coatings. ..appreciate you that you are still preferring to feed your baby the traditional foods we grew up eating...but please look into this factor too...Not only does the flavouring habit pamper her taste buds but also as research proves may stand as a main reason for childhood obesity. ...I wish maha a healthy growing!!!!! :)

  17. Hi Madam, I have started this banana porridge to my 7 month old baby but i found whenever I gave him, after that he reduces his food intake for whole day. Final output of this powder which i made at home is not as white as your's(looked in pictorial), I mean my powder has some black ingredients mixed also( I think banana seeds also been added). So is that problem??

  18. @Labdhi ShahThanks for your mail. Raw banana is pretty heavy, so it is advisable to give in the morning. No issues with seeds, you can give that too. Make sure you cook them well.

    1. Just give small bits of chopped colourful fruits and let her pick and eat them. this will help them to eat solid foods
