Breadcrumbs is one of the basic and a versatile ingredient to have on hand. Store bought breadcrumbs can be quite expensive..Why do you want to buy store bought ones when you can easily make them at home using regular bread slices.

    Preparation Time : 5 mins
    Freezing Time : 2 hours
    Baking Time : 15 mins

    Ingredients:

Bread Slices as needed ( You can use white or wheat as you like)

    Method:

    For Fresh Breadcrumbs:

Take bread slices, cut them into small chunks. Put it in a plate or a plastic bag and freeze them for 2 hours. Now take them in a blender and make it into powder. You can store this in a ziploc bag in the freezer.

    For Dry Breadcrumbs:
Preheat oven to 150 degree C.Take bread slices and arrange it in a tray. Pop this in oven for 5 to 7 mins till it turns golden brown, now remove it from oven, flip it over and bake them again for another 5 to 7 mins. Now remove them from oven and let them cool down. Now break them roughly and take them in a blender and powder them. Store this in a ziploc bag in freezer.

Instead of cooking this in oven, you can toast them in a toaster as well.

    Notes:
    1) Dry Breadcrumbs works great for cutlets.
2)If you want crispy and crunchy exterior you can use fresh ones.
3)Dry Breadcrumbs can be stored in freezer for more than 5 to 6 months.
4)Fresh Breadcrumbs can be stored in freezer for 2 to 3 months.
