Yellow Pongal Recipe - Manja Pongal Recipe - Manjal Pongal Recipe

This is another traditional and festive recipe. Amma makes this for navrathri or any vratham days. I love it so much. It is so simple and has a simple and clean taste. It is good for babies too.

Related Recipes,

This taste best with sambar or chutney..I hope you will try this out and let me know how it turned out for you..

Preparation Time : 5 mins
Cooking Time : 25 to 30 mins
Serves : 4

Rice - 1 cup (You can use Raw Rice / Pacharisi too)
Yellow Moong Dal / Pasi Paruppu - 1/2 cup
Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 2 tsp
Black Pepper - 2 tsp Crushed
Salt to taste
Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi -1  tsp
Water - 5 cup
Ghee - 1 tblspn

Take rice and dal in a bowl and wash well.

Take everything in a pressure cooker, except ghee. Mix well and pressure cook for 4 whistle. Simmer the flame and cook for 10 mins. Turn off the heat and let the steam escape all by itself.

Now open the cooker and add ghee. Mix well.

I used normal cooking rice, but traditionally
raw rice (pacharisi) is used

Add in moong dal

Wash it well

add in to a pressure cooker

cover with fresh water

Now you got to add crushed pepper, cumin seeds,
turmeric powder and salt

give a good mix

cover and pressure cook

Now it is done

add in a tblspn of ghee

mix well
