I have recently started including brown rice in my diet. I dont like brown rice before, but when hubby and me started diet, we have strictly avoided rice, but when we feel like having rice, this is the rice which i prefer to use. I bought this container of brown rice when we visited supermarket before, i totally loved it a lot and using it a lot now. I am using this for making biryani as well and finding it turn out good.
How to Cook Basmati Rice
I prefer cooking this rice by draining method, because it removes all the excess starch from rice and keeps it separated..The key point you have to remember when cooking rice by draining method is, you have to always stand near it and also keep on tasting the rice, so you never end up in mushy sticky rice.
Preparation Time : 5 mins
Soaking Time : 1 hour
Cooking Time : 15 to 20 mins
Brown Rice - 1 cup
Water - 8 cups
Salt - 2 tsp
Wash and soak brown rice for 1 hour. Drain and set aside.
Heat water in a sauce pan, bring it to a good boil.
Add in salt. Add in the drained rice and boil it for 15 to 17 mins.
Drain and Use accordingly.

|Measure your rice in a bowl|
|Wash them well|
|Cover with water and soak it for 1 hour|

cooks it little faster

but when i am in a hurry i use pressure cooker to cook rice.
|Add salt to boiling water|
|add the drained rice|
|let it come up to a rolling boil again|
|let it cook for 10 mins or so|
|you can see the rice getting little softer|
|now simmer the pot and keep cooking|
while you keep on tasting the rice.
I cooked it for 5 to 7 more mins..

prefered texture reaches
|Serve hot with curry..|
