    Easy Beetroot Halwa Recipe with step by step pictures. This is a healthy dessert and a great way to include this bright beetroot on diet for kids.

    Easy Beetroot Halwa

    This is possibly one of the easiest sweet you could think off apart from carrot halwa. I loved it so much, it tasted so rich and yummy.

    Ingredients for Easy Beetroot Halwa

    • Beetroots - 2 peeled and grated (around 2 cups)
    • Ghee - 1 tablespoon + 2 tablespoon + 2 tsp
    • Milk - 1 cup
    • Sugar - ½ cup to ¾ cup
    • Cashews a handful
    • Sultanas / Kishmish a handful
    • Cardamom powder / Yelakai podi - ½ tsp
     
    I made this for my sister and when she tasted it, she told me that it doesn't taste like beetroot at all, it is more like carrot halwa, so rich, so sticky and milky. Totally divine..

    How to Make Easy Beetroot Halwa

    1. Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a pressure cooker. Add in beetroots and saute till raw smell leaves from it.
    2. Now add in milk and pressure cook for 2 whistle. Simmer the flame and cook for 10 more mins.
    3. Turn off the heat and let the steam go all by itself.
    4. Now heat 2 tablespoon ghee in a pan, add in cashew and fry till golden, now add in sultanas and saute for a min. Remove the nuts to a bowl.
    5. In the same ghee, add in the beets along with the milk. Saute on high heat till the milk dries up.
    6. Now add in sugar and mix well. Keep cooking till the mix get thick. Keep cooking, it will starts to leave the sides.
    7. Now add in a teaspoon of ghee and mix well. Add another teaspoon of ghee and cook till leaves the sides of the pan.
    8. Add in the fried nuts and cardamom powder. Mix well.
    9. Serve.

    Ingredients

    Easy Beetroot Halwa Recipe Step by Step

    Take few beetroots

     

    cut the top and bottom off

     

    peel off the skin

     

    grate it

     

    Heat ghee in a pressure cooker

     

    add in grated beets

     

    saute for 5 mins

     

    cook till raw smell leaves from it

     

    pour in milk

     

    mix well

     

    cover and pressure cook

     

    now it is done

     

    Heat ghee in a pan

     

    melt it down

     

    add in cashews

     

    fry till golden

     

    Add in sultanas

     

    fry till golden

     

    remove to a bowl

     

    now in the remaining ghee

     

    add the cooked beets

     

    mix well

     

    add in sugar

     

    mix well

     

    cook till sugar has melted

     

    cook till it gets thick

     

    cook it down

     

    keep cooking

     

    now it has started to get thick

     

    add a teaspoon of ghee

     

    mix well

     

    add another teaspoon of ghee

     

    mix well

     

    it will start to leave the sides

     

    sprinkle some cardamom powder

     

    add in the fried nuts

     

    mix well

      Hi Aarthi, had tried d chicken liver masala recepie of yours with a few variations, it turned out pretty well, thanks:-).. just a query about Beetroot halwa, wen u add milk and pressure cook for two whistles, does not the milk break.. as recently I was trying rice kheer recepie in the cooker n the milk broke after putting whistle..
