    This is a healthy upma recipe which taste amazing and highly nutritious. I used instant oats for this, you can use rolled oats too. but add more water when you use rolled oatmeal.

    How to Make Oats Upma 

    • Tempering whole spices in oil or ghee
    • Sauteing onions, chillies.
    • Add and Stir frying some Vegetables
    • Toasting instant oats in the vegetable mix
    • Add hot water and cook.
    • Serve hot.

    Ingredients

    • 1 tbsp Oil
    • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
    • 1 tsp Urad dal
    • ¼ tsp Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya podi
    • 1 sprig Curry leaves
    • 1 Onion chopped finely
    • 2 Green Chillies chopped
    • 1 Carrot chopped
    • 6 Beans chopped
    • ½ Capsicum chopped
    • Salt to taste
    • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
    • Salt to taste
    • 2 cups Instant Oats
    • 2 cups Water
    • 2 tsp Ghee

    Instructions

    • Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard, urad dal, curry leaves and asaofetida.
    • Add in onions and veggies and chillies. Saute for 2 to 3 mins.
    • Add in salt, turmeric and oats and toss well.
    • Add in boiling water and mix well.
    • Cover and cook on low heat for 5 to 6 mins.
    • Fluff up and serve.

    Oats Upma Recipe Step by Step Pictures

    1)Heat oil in a kadai

    2)Add mustard and urad dal

    3)Add in asaofetida

    4)Add curry leaves

    5)Add in chopped carrot, beans, green chilli and capsicum

    6)Add salt

    7)Saute for 3 to 4 mins

    8)Add in instant oats

    9)Toast it for few mins

    10)Add boiling water

    11)Mix well. Cover and cook on low heat for 5 mins

    11)Drizzle ghee
