Avocado Puree for Babies with step by step pictures. This Avocado is a popular first food for baby and it is full of nutrition that your growing baby needs.
Avocado Puree for Babies
Avocado is a great first food for babies. You can start feeding it as soon as your baby starts their solids. Since it is easy to digest, they are great weaning food. Avocado is rich is omega 3 which helps in brain development in babies. You can add some banana to this puree, it adds potassium too.
Avocados are high in monounsaturated fat, that’s the good kind of fat! A medium size avocado contains approximately 322 calories and up to 30 grams of fat – WOW. 1 cup of avocado puree contains almost 700 calories as it would take approximately 2 avocados to make a cup. The benefits of avocados far outweigh the “risks”. You can read more about the benefits of avocado here

Things to remember:
1)Texture of the puree depends upon you, i would recommend you to make the puree smooth for smaller babies.
2)Your baby wont empty the whole bowl all at once, start with few spoons then increase it gradually as days pass by.
3)In my opinion & experience avocado wont cause any constipation in babies. I feed this puree once a week.
4) I don't prefer freezing purees. I make it fresh everyday.
5)Avocado is filled with omega 3, so it is very healthy for babies.
6)Avocado is easily digestible and make a great first solid food or weaning food for baby.
7)You can skip adding sugar to this puree, if your baby like it plain.

How to sterilize baby feeding bowls:
Start by sterilizing the bowls and spoons which you are going to feed your baby. Take the bowl and spoon in a large saucepan, cover it with water and bring them to a boil. Boil it rapidly for 5 mins. Now you can turn the heat off and leave them stay in the hot water till use.
How to make Mashed Avocado

- Use a spoon to scoop the flesh from them.
- Now take all the flesh in a bowl and mash it well using a fork or spoon or masher.
- You can even put them in a blender and puree them.

Instead of refined sugar good to use palm sugar orjaggery it has more nutrients esp photo minerals, iron and calcium etc. I never use refined sugar in making baby foods.

I follow all your blog all the time. I have a 7 months old baby boy and I give avocado purée once every week , I have I say that sugar is not necessary for babies. It's best to avoid sugar as they don't get any nourishment from it. I add half an orange or sweet clem juice to it to make it tasty!
Hope I didn't hurt your feelings! My personal thought as many people follow your blog for baby food recipes!

Hi Aarti,
My baby will complete her 6 months on 26th April and I have not even given her water thinking to start water as summer has started. Pls tell me which food can be given first.

HI Anu
sorry answering the query. I have a 7 month old baby boy. Anu i think you should start water in small quantity. Though ur lil one is breastfed but the summers are quite severe. U can even start baby food as she will start adapting to the solids and her tummy will adjust to it.
