Coconut Puli Kuzhambu Recipe
Ingredients
- Gingelly Oil - 3 tblsp
- Vadakam - 5 pieces
- Fenugreek seeds / Vendayam - ¼ tsp
- Curry Leaves - a handful
- Shallots - 10 peeled
- Garlic - 20 cloves peeled
- Sambar Powder - 3 tblsp
- Tamarind - 1 small lemon size
- Salt to taste
- Jaggery - 1 tsp
FOR GRINDING:
- Coconut - ½ cup
- Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
- Garlic - 3 cloves
- Green Chillies - 2
Instructions
- Grind ingredients given for grinding to a coarse paste.
- Heat oil and fry fenugreek seeds and vadagam.
- Add curry leaves, shallots and garlic.
- Add sambar powder and mix well.
- Add tamarind paste and water.
- Then add in coconut paste and mix well. Add salt and jaggery and mix well.
- Simmer for 10 mins.
- Serve.

3)Heat oil in a pan, add few pieces of vadagam
4)Add little fenugreek seeds
5)Add curry leaves
6)Add onions and garlic
7)Saute for 2 mins
8)Cook till light golden
9)Add sambar powder
10)Mix well
11)Add water
12)Mix well
13)Add tamarind pulp
14)Mix well
15)Add small piece of jaggery
16)Add salt to taste
17)Cook for few mins
18)Add coconut paste
19)Simmer for 10 mins or so
20)Serve
