    Crab Masala Recipe - Nandu Varuval Recipe

    I have shared a simple crab curry recipe before and this is my second recipe. It is a thick masala kind of dish and taste just fantastic with rice. Since it is crab season i have asked hubby to get me more crab so i can create more recipes for you. If you need any specific recipe using crab just let me know, i will try to share it..And with this post i have shared a video of cleaning crab, make sure you check them as well..

    Preparation Time : 10 mins
    Cooking Time : 30 to 35 mins
    Serves: 3 to 4

    Ingredients:

    Coconut Oil - 4 tblspn
    Fennel Seeds / Sombu / Saunf - 1 tsp
    Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
    Onion - 1 large chopped finely
    Green Chilli - 2 slit
    Curry Leaves a handful
    Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tblspn
    Coriander Powder - 1 tblspn
    Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
    Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - ½ tsp
    Garam Masala Powder - 2 tsp
    Salt to taste
    Coriander leaves a handful finely chopped

    For Cooking Crab:
    Crab - 4 medium size cleaned
    Salt to taste
    Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - ½ tsp
    Water - ½ cup

    Method:

    Take cleaned crab in a sauce pan, add ½ cup of water and salt, turmeric powder and mix well. Cover and cook them for 3 mins. Now strain this mix and set aside, reserve the cooking water.

    In a kadai, heat oil and crackle in cumin and fennel seeds.

    Add in onions, green chilli and curry leaves and saute this till golden brown.

    Add in ginger garlic paste and cook that for a min.

    Add in tomatoes and cook till mushy.

    Add in the spice powders and salt along with little of the cooking water and mix well. Cook that for 5 mins or so.

    Now add in the crab and toss well in the masala. Add the remaining water and cook covered for 5 to 6 mins.

    Now increase the heat and dry the dish for a min.

    Add coriander leaves and mix well.

    Serve

    cook till spice powders are cooked

    toss well

    add remaining cooking liquid

    cover and cook for 5 to 6 mins

      Hi, I like your recipes. But lately there is so much of ad coming and not able to see your recipe. So not coming to your site as often I used to.
