Healthy Wheat Biscuits for Babies
I've shared many biscuit recipes on my blog, and this has become a new favourite. I made these specially for my sister's daughter and she absolutely loved them during her solid food journey.
The soft texture and natural sweetness make them perfect for little ones and also for adults who are looking for healthy, low sugar treats.
About Wheat Biscuit for Babies
As a parent, when your little ones begin their solid food journey, it is important to introduce a variety of taste, texture and flavour to them.
So, when my sister visited, I made these simple homemade wheat biscuits for her daughter Mia as a safe and nutritious alternative to store bought biscuits.
I just made these biscuits with natural ingredients like whole wheat flour, dry ginger powder, ghee and rock sugar.
These biscuits are clean, wholesome and baby friendly. You can feel safe about offering them to your little ones, knowing that these are free from preservatives, refined flour and sugar.

I thought of making a wheat cookies with ghee. First I thought of adding jaggery in the cookies, but I was confused that if i need to add jaggery it has to be melted and strained. So I was not sure whether that liquid will make a perfect cookie.
So i thought of adding panankarkandu which is also called as rock sugar. I added some ginger powder for flavour and the cookies turned out brilliant.
What I love most about this recipe is its versatility. It grows with your child, as a perfect finger food for little ones, a tasty snack for a toddler and a simple treat for adults along with a hot cup of tea or coffee in the evening to enjoy.
It's amazing how one simple recipe can be enjoyed at so many stages of life.

Ingredients
- Wheat flour : This is the main ingredient that provides structure to the biscuits and adds a slight nutty flavour. You can also substitute with millet flour like ragi flour, bajra flour or use a mix of millet and whole wheat flour to make it even healthier.
- Powdered rock sugar / Panagkarkandu : This is a natural sweetener that adds a mild sweetness and balances the flavour of biscuits. Make sure to use it in powder form so that it mixes evenly with the dough.
- Ghee : Ghee adds rich flavour and aroma to the biscuit. It keeps them soft and gives a melt in mouth texture.
- Dry ginger powder : Dry ginger powder is good for digestion and adds a mild warm spice flavour without overpowering. You can also substitute with cardamom powder or cinnamon powder if preferred.
- Milk : Milk helps to bind the ingredients to form a smooth dough. It is also rich in calcium and protein, which makes the biscuits more nutritious for babies.

Step by Step Pictures
1)This is panankarkandu. it is also known as rock candy sugar. It is very good for healthy specially for babies. it is good for cough and cold.

2)take rock candy in a blender.

3)Powder it till it is super fine in texture.

4)Now lets make the dough. Take ghee in a bowl.

5)Add in powdered palm candy into the ghee.

6)Mix well till it is combined.

7)Add in milk into the sugar and ghee mixture.

8)Mix well till it is creamy.

9)Add in dry ginger powder. Instead of this you can use ground cardamom powder and vanilla extract. Mix this really well into the ghee sugar mix.

10)Add in wheat flour into the ghee sugar mixture.

11)Make it into a soft dough. If your dough looks too sticky, add some more flour into the mixture and knead to a soft dough.

12)Now place the dough on a plastic wrap.

13)Place another sheet of plastic wrap on the dough.

14)Roll it gently so it is in even thickness.

15)Now peel off the outer wrapper. Cut off the edges.

16)Cut it into strips. and then cut it in half.

17)Gently remove it using a spatula.

18)Place it on a greased baking tray and pop it into the pre heated oven.

19)Bake for 12 to 14 minutes. Remove and cool completely.

20)Enjoy.

Expert Tips
Powder the sweetener : It is best to use powdered rock sugar because it mixes easily into the dough and helps the biscuit bake evenly.
Room temperature : The ghee and milk should be at room temperature before making dough.
Don't overknead : Mix all the ingredients together until they combine well. Over kneading can make the biscuits turn harder instead of light.
Flavour customization : You can swap dry ginger powder with cardamom powder, cinnamon powder, vanilla extract or add saffron infused milk for a rich aroma and flavour.
Don't have an oven : These biscuits can also be baked in a preheated pressure cooker, kadai or in an airfryer.
Storage : Always allow the biscuits to cool completely before storing. This helps to prevent them from turning soggy. Transfer the biscuits to a clean, dry airtight container. When properly stored, they stay good at room temperature for a week.
Serving : These wholesome wheat biscuits make a perfect munching treat for babies, kids, and adults. And it also pairs wonderfully with a hot cup of tea or coffee.

These basic banana oat cookies are free from added sugar, eggs and milk. Which make them very useful for children with allergies or when you are slowly introducing the allergy foods to your baby.
