    Radish Kootu Recipe - Mullangi Kootu Recipe

    I make kootu with whole lot of veggies. Few days back i decided to make this kootu with radish and guess what it taste so yummy. Plus it is so healthy too..

    Preparation Time : 10 mins
    Cooking Time : 20 to 25 mins
    Serves: 4

    Ingredients:

    Radish - 1 chopped finely
    Salt to taste
    Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
    Water as needed
    Yellow Moong Dal / Pasi Paruppu - ½ cup
    Oil - 1 tsp


    For Grinding:
    Fresh Coconut - 1 cup grated
    Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
    Dry Red Chilli - 2
    Rice Flour - 1 tblspn


    For Seasoning:
    Coconut oil - 1 tblspn
    Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
    Urad dal / Ulundu paruppu - 1 tsp
    Curry leaves - 1 sprig
    Dry Red Chilli - 1 broken into pieces
    Asafoetida / Hing / kaya Podi - a pinch


    Method:

    Wash and cook moong dal till it is done and set aside.

    Take all the ingredients for grinding in a blender and make it into a smooth puree.

    Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan, add in radish and saute for 5 mins or so. Add in little salt and turmeric powder and mix well. Now add in water and cook till radish is done.

    Now add in cooked moong dal and mix well. 

    Add in coconut mix and mix well.

    Simmer for 5 more mins.

    Now  heat oil in a pan add in all seasoning ingredients and let it sizzle. Pour this over the curry and mix well.

    pour it over the curry

    serve
