    Radish Kootu

    I make kootu with whole lot of veggies. Few days back i decided to make this kootu with radish and guess what it taste so yummy. Plus it is so healthy too.

    Ingredients for Radish Kootu

    • Radish - 1 chopped finely
    • Salt to taste
    • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
    • Water as needed
    • Yellow Moong Dal / Pasi Paruppu - ½ cup
    • Oil - 1 tsp
    For Grinding:
    • Fresh Coconut - 1 cup grated
    • Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
    • Dry Red Chilli - 2
    • Rice Flour - 1 tblspn
    For Seasoning:
    • Coconut oil - 1 tblspn
    • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
    • Urad dal / Ulundu paruppu - 1 tsp
    • Curry leaves - 1 sprig
    • Dry Red Chilli - 1 broken into pieces
    • Asafoetida / Hing / kaya Podi - a pinch

    How to make Radish Kootu

    1. Wash and cook moong dal till it is done and set aside.
    2. Take all the ingredients for grinding in a blender and make it into a smooth puree.
    3. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan, add in radish and saute for 5 mins or so. Add in little salt and turmeric powder and mix well. Now add in water and cook till radish is done.
    4. Now add in cooked moong dal and mix well. 
    5. Add in coconut mix and mix well.
    6. Simmer for 5 more mins.
    7. Now  heat oil in a pan add in all seasoning ingredients and let it sizzle. Pour this over the curry and mix well.
    8. Serve

    • 1 chopped finely Radish
