Radish Kootu
I make kootu with whole lot of veggies. Few days back i decided to make this kootu with radish and guess what it taste so yummy. Plus it is so healthy too.
Ingredients for Radish Kootu
- Radish - 1 chopped finely
- Salt to taste
- Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
- Water as needed
- Yellow Moong Dal / Pasi Paruppu - ½ cup
- Oil - 1 tsp
For Grinding:
- Fresh Coconut - 1 cup grated
- Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
- Dry Red Chilli - 2
- Rice Flour - 1 tblspn
For Seasoning:
- Coconut oil - 1 tblspn
- Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
- Urad dal / Ulundu paruppu - 1 tsp
- Curry leaves - 1 sprig
- Dry Red Chilli - 1 broken into pieces
- Asafoetida / Hing / kaya Podi - a pinch
How to make Radish Kootu
- Wash and cook moong dal till it is done and set aside.
- Take all the ingredients for grinding in a blender and make it into a smooth puree.
- Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan, add in radish and saute for 5 mins or so. Add in little salt and turmeric powder and mix well. Now add in water and cook till radish is done.
- Now add in cooked moong dal and mix well.
- Add in coconut mix and mix well.
- Simmer for 5 more mins.
- Now heat oil in a pan add in all seasoning ingredients and let it sizzle. Pour this over the curry and mix well.
- Serve
