    Raw Mango Sambar

    Sambar is one of the staple in our house and in each and every south indian house..I have quite a lot of sambar recipes in my blog..I have created a separate folder for those sambar recipes..This is another addition to my sambar list..

    Ingredients for Raw Mango Sambar

    • Raw Mango - 1 large chopped with skin
    • Onion - 1 small chopped
    • Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - ½ tsp
    • Salt to taste
    • Water as needed
    • Homemade Sambar powder - 2 tbsp or to taste
    • Jaggery or Sugar - 2 tbsp or to taste
    • Coriander Leaves a handful finely chopped

    For Dal:

    • Toor Dal / Tuvaram Paruppu - ½ cup
    • Turmeric Powder - ½ tsp
    • Water - 1.5 cup

    For Seasoning:

    • Oil - 1 tbsp
    • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
    • Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
    • Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1 tsp
    • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi - ¼ tsp
    • Curry leaves a small handful

    How to Make Raw Mango Sambar

    1. Take dal, turmeric, salt in a pressure cooker. Cover with water and pressure cook for 3 whistle. Simmer the flame and cook for 5 mins.
    2. Turn off the heat and let the steam go all by itself. Open the cooker and mash it well and set aside.
    3. Now in a pot, add in oil along with seasoning spices. Saute for a min.
    4. Add in onions, mangoes and mix well.
    5. Add in salt and turmeric. Toss well.
    6. Then add in water and cook till mangoes are done.
    7. Add in cooked dal, sambar powder, jaggery and mix well. Simmer it for few mins.
    8. Add in coriander leaves and mix well.
    9. Serve.

    Ingredients
      

    • 1 large Raw Mango chopped with skin
    • 1 small Onion chopped
    • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi
    • Salt to taste
    • Water as needed
    • 2 tbsp or to taste Homemade Sambar powder
    • 2 tbsp or to taste Jaggery or Sugar
    • Coriander Leaves a handful finely chopped
    • For Dal:
    • ½ cup Toor Dal / Tuvaram Paruppu
    • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
    • 1.5 cup Water
    • For Seasoning:
    • Oil - 1 tblspn
    • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds / Kaduku
    • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam
    • 1 tsp Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu
    • ¼ tsp Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi
    • Curry leaves a small handful

    Instructions

    Take washed toor dal in a pressure cooker

    add little turmeric
