    Ridge Gourd Milk Curry

     

    This is my 4th post using ridge gourd, even though we buy ridge gourd often, i have never shared any recipes so far..So no worries few days back i picked 5 ridge gourd from my grocery shop, so you will be seeing so many peerkangai post soon..This dish has become my favourite side dish..It takes just few mins to make..This taste great with rice or roti..Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you.

    Ingredients for Ridge Gourd Milk Curry

     

    • Oil - 1 tblspn
    • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
    • Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
    • Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1 tsp
    • Curry leaves a sprig
    • Onion - 1 medium size chopped finely
    • Green Chillies - 2 to 3 chopped finely
    • Ridge Gourd - 1 peeled and cubed
    • Salt to taste
    • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
    • Milk - 1.5 cup to 2 cup
    • Sesame Seeds - 1 tblspn

    How to make Ridge Gourd Milk Curry

    1. Dry roast sesame seeds and powder them in a blender. 
    2. Heat oil in a pan, add in mustard, cumin, urad dal, curry leaves and let them sizzle.
    3. Add in onions, chillies and saute well. Add salt and turmeric and mix well.
    4. Now add in ridge gourd and mix well. Cover and simmer the flame and cook for 8 to 10 mins till it is cooked.
    5. Now add in sesame seed powder and mix well.
    6. Add in milk and mix well.
    7. Simmer for few mins till it comes to a boil.
    8. Serve.

    Ridge Gourd Milk Curry Recipe step by step picture

    take your ridge gourd
    peel them, don't throw the peel, you can make chutney..
    check this link
    cut it like this
    slice them
    chop them finely
     
    Take all your ingredients
    Take your sesame seeds
    dry roast it in a dry pan
    you can powder it in a blender..i used my mortar and pestle
    set aside
    in the same pan, heat some oil and add in the seasoning
    add in curry leaves
    add in onions, chillies
    salt and turmeric powder
    mix well
    add in cubed ridge gourd
    mix well
    cover and simmer
    now it is cooked
    add in sesame powder
    toss well
    add in milk
    mix well
    bring it to a boil and turn off the heat
    Serve
