    Beetroot Biryani Recipe

Beetroots are such a interesting vegetable to be added in rice, because it gives rice its natural colour so you don’t have to worry about adding any colours to it. When beets are combined with rice, they give a natural sweetness to the rice and that what makes this dish a real hit. This is a very simple biryani that can be made in less than 30 mins. A perfect recipe to put in lunch box.

How to Make Beetroot Biryani Recipe

    1. Soak rice for 30 mins. Drain it and set aside.
    2. Heat oil in a pan. Add cinnamon, cardamom, cumin seeds and mix well.
    3. Add onions and sauté for 2 mins. Sprinkle in salt, chilli powder, coriander powder and mix well.
    4. Add in grated beetroot and mix well. Now add in soaked rice and mix well.
    5. Pour in water and bring it to a boil. Cover and simmer for 15 to 20 mins untill the rice has absorbed all water and cooked.
    6. Turn off the heat and let it rest for 10 mins covered. Open the pan and fluff it with a fork.
    7. Serve with raita.

I thought the rice looked different, and now I know it's basmati rice. What a great idea to use beetroots to give it that color!:D
