Easy Egg Bajji Recipe / Egg Pakora Recipe

Egg Bajji is one of my all time favourite. Traditionally it is made with gram flour batter, but i like to play around and made using all purpose flour and it turns out so tasty and the taste was very different, i liked it.

I made this and had it with a cup of chai and it was so easy. It makes a great snack for kids as well. Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 1 to 2 min per batch
Serves : 4


Eggs - 8
Oil for Deep frying

For Batter:
All Purpose Flour / Maida - 1 cup
Rice Flour or Cornflour - 2 tblspn
Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Freshly Ground Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - 1/2 tsp
Fennel Seed Powder / Saunf or Sombu Podi - 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Baking Soda / Cooking Soda - a pinch
Water as needed


Hard boil eggs, peel them, and cut them in half.

Mix all the ingredients for batter to a smooth paste. 

Heat oil for deep frying.

Dip the halved eggs in the batter and fry in hot oil till golden.

Drain on to some paper towel.

Serve with ketchup

Take all your ingredients for batter

First hard boil some eggs

Peel the shells

Cut them in half

Now lets make the batter..Take all purpose flour / maida
 in a bowl

add in some rice flour ..You can add some cornflour

add in chilli, turmeric, pepper and fennel powder

add in some salt

add in ginger garlic paste

and some baking soda

mix well

add in water

make it into a smooth batter

drop the eggs in batter

coat them on both sides

drop in hot oil and fry till golden

drain on to a paper towel

  3. Hi Aarthi, I tried the recipe and it came out really well. But I have a question. Whenever I try to deep fry eggs, it starts bursting and oil starts spluttering all over. Lot of time I got minor burns due to this. Is there any trick with which I can avoid this ?? Your help is appreciated. Thank you 😊

  4. @Sukanyamake sure you cover the whole egg in the batter before frying
