Baked Cauliflower and Cheese
I like cauliflower in all form like fried, baked, roasted…Specially this one….I fell in love with this dish from the time I made this dish and now I make this more often…The cauliflower in this recipe is very creamy inside and crispy outside..The addition of breadcrumbs make it more crispy and yummy…The sauce with I used is basic béchamel sauce…If you want to avoid butter in the sauce you could use olive oil or any oil in this..I hope you all will give this dish a try and let me know what you think…
Ingrediants:
Cauliflower-2 cups cut into florets
Milk-1 cup or as needed
Flour-2 tblspn
Butter-2 tblspn
Cheese-3 tblspn
Breadcrumbs-2 tblspn
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Method:
Preheat the oven to 200°C(400°F)..
Blanch Cauliflower in salted water for 5 mins or till it is fork tender…Drain this and set aside.
Heat butter in a sauce pan…add in flour and cook for 2-3 mins on a slow flame till the flour gets cooked.
Pour in the milk slowly and mix till sauce gets smooth consistency.
Cook this for some more minutes till the sauce gets thickened.
Add in cheese and mix well.Season this with salt and pepper and mix well….Set this sauce aside for a moment.
Now take the cauliflower in a baking pan and pour the prepared sauce over this…make sure that every florets is covered with the sauce.
Sprinkle with cheese and breadcrumbs…Bake this in the oven for 30-35 mins or till this gets golden on top..
Serve warm..
Pictorial:
Grab your ingrediants
Cook cauliflower till tender
Melt butter in a saucepan
add flour and mix well
cook it for few minutes
slowly add milk in this…
let it come to a boil..
cook it till it thickens
add cheese…
season with salt and pepper..
All done…
Arrange califlower in baking dish
Pour the sauce over this
sprinkle with cheese and breadcrumbs
bake it till golden..
Can you see the crispness
Serve

Very beautiful dish and your photos are wonderful too. Your bechamel became a "sauce mornay" when you added the cheese. This cauliflower is a great classic.
    Thank You.

This looks so delicious. That sauce is a perfect pairing for the cauliflower. I know my family would love this. I would use my spicy garlic olive oil for this. Yummy!
