Spread the Joy!
We buy chicken atleast once or twice in a week. Each time i make it different ways. Most of the time it will be a curry, a roast kind of dish and a fried chicken dish..Sometimes i make it thick and masala like, so it goes well with chapati or paratha.
I make masala chicken dish two ways one with coconut and other without coconut. This recipe is using coconut and i will share the other version soon.
So off you go to the recipe and let me know how it turned out for you..
Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 45 to 50 mins
Serves : 4
Ingredients:

For Grinding:
Fresh Coconut – 1/2 cup grated
Poppy Seeds / Khus Khus / Kasa Kasa – 2 tblspn

Method:
Take the grinding ingredients in a blender and make it into a smooth puree. Set aside till use.
Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add in onions, chillies and curry leaves. Saute till the onions turn golden.
Add in ginger garlic paste and saute for a min.
Add in salt and all the spice powders. Mix well for 30 sec.

Open the cooker and transfer this curry to a pot.
Add in coconut masala and mix well. Cover this and Boil this for 10 mins or so till the curry thickens like a masala.
Add in coriander leaves and mix well.
Serve over rice.

Aarthi can't thank you enough for all your wonderful recipes. Your baby food recipes are awesome too . Waiting for more recipes. Maha looks so cute. Can you plz tell me what capacity pressure cooker do you use generally in these recipes as well as the baby food ones .. 3l or more? The one shown in the above recipe looks nice and handy.
@PriyaIt is 2 liter
Can we use the dabur coconut milk instead of fresh coconut ? Will the taste vary alot fron the original?
@Anonymousyes u can use..
Hi aarthi, I don't have poppy seeds, can I replace with cashew nuts?
@shobayes u can
Looking very delicious preparation .
I made this today and it tastes amazing! Do uou mind if I share it on the blog I have in Polish? thanks
I have noticed that the oil content in all your recipes are quite high. Are you not concerned with the ill effects of using too much oil in cooking? Could you please post healthy recipies with low fat content?
Hi I was seeing ur recipes. …..today 1St trying diz 1 it came out very well thanx
@Shilpa, regarding the oil, this recipe calls for 2 tbsps. Not a lot for traditional Indian food! Plus you can always adjust to your liking. You sound like you are admonishing Aarthi! This is her blog Shilpa. Be nice! @ Aarthi, thank you for this awesome recipe. Have a question. Is there a specific need to transfer from the cooker to a pot to put the coconut masala? Can you just continue in the cooker? Thank you so much.
Do we have to add water in the pressure cooker? and if so how much?
no need to add, it will cook in its own liquid.
I ve to try this recipe….
Will be anxiously waiting for the next recipe__(without coconut)
Looks great.can you tell howomuch of the fresh coconut in ml
Hi Aarti, i tried ur receipe….it was very delicious
Step by step with photos, best way to show how its done. Thank you.
Hi is there a way I can skip coconut in this recipe??what could be the replacement??
Giving a whistle to the chicken in pressure cooker boils the chicken and makes it fluffy. Try instead to just cover it and cook, the chicken will be more tasty!
Can we add water since the gravy bcm very thick.
yes u can
