Homemade Copycat Domino's oregano seasoning is an easy recipe and you can make a fresh, flavourful and spicy seasoning mix at home just like the one served with pizzas and garlic bread. It can also be sprinkled over pasta, sandwiches, wraps, fries and many snacks.

    Dominos Oregano Seasoning Recipe

I always collect and store the extra oregano seasoning and chilli flakes sachets that come with pizzas. They come in handy for adding extra aroma and flavour to homemade pasta, sandwiches, breads and pizzas.

That is when I started thinking about making this oregano seasoning using simple herbs and spices available in my kitchen. The combination of oregano, chilli flakes, garlic, black pepper and mixed herbs gives the perfect restaurant style flavour. It tasted much better than the store bought packets and it is fresher and budget friendly.

    About Oregano Seasoning Recipe

Domino's style oregano seasoning is one of the most loved spice mixes served with pizzas. It is made with a blend of dried herbs, chilli flakes, and spices that add a delicious flavour and aroma to any dish. You can sprinkle it over homemade pizzas, sandwiches, wraps, fries, pasta and roasted vegetables for extra taste.

The combination of herbs like rosemary, basil, oregano gives a perfect Italian style flavour that tastes very similar to the seasoning sachets served with Dominos pizzas.

One of the best things about making this seasoning at home is that it is fresh, easy to prepare and customize. You can adjust the spice level and flavours according to your taste and store it in an airtight container for later use.

This seasoning tastes so delicious on snacks like cheesy garlic bread, popcorn, fries and many more. It instantly adds extra flavour to snacks and makes them taste more restaurant style. I hope this easy homemade oregano seasoning becomes your favorite too.

This is one of the main ingredients or flavouring in dominos pizzas or garlic bread. It is pretty easy to make and i made a small batch of it to make my dominos garlic breadstick. You need to put together few herbs and spice and either pulse it in a blender or make it by pounding it using a mortar and pestle.

    Ingredients

    • Dry chilli flakes : Use good quality dry chilli flakes for the best spicy flavour. You can adjust the quantity based on your spice tolerance.
    • Dried marjoram : If marjoram is not available, you can replace it with extra oregano or little thyme.
    • Dried oregano : Oregano is the main ingredient which gives the classic pizza seasoning flavour and aroma.
    • Dried basil : Basil has a mild sweet and pepper flavour that balances the strong flavour of other herbs.
    • Dried rosemary : Rosemary has a rich herb flavour and uses it in small quantities without overpowering the other herbs and spices.
    • Black pepper : Black pepper adds a mild heat and enhances the overall flavour of the oregano seasoning.
    • Salt : Salt balances all the herb and spice flavors in the seasoning mix.
    • Garlic powder : Garlic powder adds a rich, delicious flavour to the seasoning. It gives the perfect restaurant style taste and aroma.

    Step by Step Pictures

1)I used my mortar and pestle to make this seasoning since I wanted to control the texture of my seasoning.

2)Add in Red chilli flakes, basil into the mortar.

3)Add in marjoram. If you don't have this, you can leave it.

4)Add in rosemary. You can skip this too, but I found out this combination of herbs works perfect.

    5)Add in dried basil.

6)You need whole black peppercorns. You can dry roast them for few seconds before using it.

    7)Add in salt to taste.

8)Now pound these together to make the crushed oregano seasoning.

9)This is your crushed seasoning. You can make it to your perfect texture.

10)Homemade Dominos Style Oregano Seasoning is ready.

    Expert Tips

    • To get the best homemade domino's style flavour, always use fresh, good quality dried herbs and spices.
    • Adjust chilli flakes and black pepper powder based on how spicy you like it.
    • Lightly crush the herbs and spices using a mortar and pestle instead of grinding into a fine powder.
    • If some herbs are unavailable, you can still make the seasoning with oregano, basil, garlic powder, black pepper and chilli flakes. These ingredients give the main pizza seasoning flavour and aroma.

    Storage and Serving

Store the oregano seasoning in a clean, dry airtight glass jar or container. It keeps them fresh and aromatic. If stored properly, it stays fresh for several weeks to a month. Always use a dry spoon while taking the seasoning to avoid spoilage.

Yes, you can increase or decrease chilli flakes and black pepper according to your taste preference.

    Q. Do I need to cook the seasoning?

No, this is a no-cook seasoning mix. Just simply combine all the ingredients, lightly crush them using a mortar pestle or pulse them in mixie and it is ready to use.

    Q. How long does homemade oregano seasoning last?

When stored in a clean, airtight container and dry place, it stays fresh for about 1 to 2 months.

    Q. Can I skip any herb ?

Yes, you can skip or reduce any herb based on availability. However, oregano, basil, chilli flakes and garlic powder gives the best flavour and aroma.

I make a similar recipe too. Just that it's finer and with garlic powder. But never used marjoram. Thanks for this recipe. Will try with marjoram next time 🙂
