    Ingredients
      

    • Raisin - 1 cup
    • Sugar - ¾ cup or 1 cup
    • Water - 1 ¼ cup
    • Butter - ⅔ cup
    • Cinnamon Powder - 1 tsp
    • All Purpose Flour / Maida - 2 cup
    • Baking Powder - 1 tsp
    • Baking Soda / Cooking Soda - 1 tsp
    • Salt a pinch

    Instructions
     

    • Preheat oven to 160 degree C.
    • Take raisin, water, sugar, butter and cinnamon in a sauce pan. Bring it to a boil. Simmer for 5 mins.Set aside to cool.
    • Take flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and mix well.
    • Add in cooled raisin mix.
    • Fold gently.
    • Spoon it into baking pan. Bake for 55 mins to 1 hour.
    • Remove and cool completely.
    • Slice and serve.

    Pictorial:

    1)Take seedless black raisin in a sauce pan.

    2)Add sugar

    3)Add water

    4)Add butter and cinnamon powder

    5)Heat and cook till butter melts

    6)Set aside to cool.

    7)Line a loaf pan with parchment paper

    8)Take flour in a bowl

    9)Add baking powder

    10)Add baking soda

    11)Add salt

    12)Mix well

    13)Add liquid ingredients

    14)Fold gently

    15)Spoon it into baking pan

    16)Bake till done

    17)Cool it down. Slice and serve

      I made this for my Pakistani friends and they said it was perfect! Just like the Christmas cake they remember from home but can't buy here in the States-- thank you!!

      My grandmother always made this cake - she called it a Dorcas Cake. My dad asked if I could make it but leave out the raisins After boiling them I put them in blender. He said best cake ever without the raisins. I’m so thankful to find this depression era cake recipe again.
