Fruit skewers is a quick and attractive snack that you can make in just 10 minutes. It is made with fresh fruits like pineapple, muskmelon, kiwi, plums, apple, strawberry and grapes. The best part is that there is no cooking needed. Just cut the fruits, thread them into wooden skewers and enjoy.

    Fruit Skewers

First I have a confession to make. This is not a recipe at all. It is just chopped variety of fruits skewered up. It makes an interesting and colourful looking appetizer for any parties. I made this and served for my daughters second birthday party and everyone just loved it.

I love making these skewers for family gatherings, birthday parties, picnics or even as a simple snack. Pair them with a yogurt or chocolate dip to make it even more delicious.

    About Fruit Skewers

Mixed fruit skewers are one of the easiest and colourful ways to enjoy fresh fruits. They are made by simply threading bite-sized fruit pieces into wooden skewers. They look bright, appealing, taste fresh and are perfect for summer, parties or as a healthy snack.

These fruit skewers need no cooking and are ready in just a few minutes. They are naturally sweet, refreshing and a great way to include more fresh fruits in your family meal.

Instead of serving fruits in a bowl, try this way once. You can even use a cookie cutter to cut the fruits into cute shapes like heart, square, flower etc. and thread them onto wooden skewers.

For this recipe, I used pineapple, muskmelon, apple, plum, kiwi, grapes and strawberry, but you can use any seasonal fruits you have at home. Simply cut them into bite-sized pieces and thread them onto wooden skewers in any order you like.

Serve them as it is or enjoy them with yogurt dip, chocolate dip or drizzle of honey for an extra treat.

    11)Skewer the pineapples, kiwi.

    12)Skewer plum pieces and grapes.

    13)Skewers is ready.

    Expert Tips

    • Choose fresh, ripe and firm fruits so they stay on the skewers without breaking.
    • Wash and dry the fruits well before cutting. This helps them stay fresh for longer.
    • Cut the fruits into same sized pieces or use a fruit cutter for a neat and colourful look.
    • Fruits like apple, bananas can turn brown, so chop them right before assembling.

    Storage and Serving

Fruit skewers taste best when served fresh. Enjoy these colourful fruit skewers on their own or serve them with yogurt dip or chocolate fondue for an extra special treat.

    FAQ

    Q. What fruits are best for fruit skewers ?

Firm fruits like pineapple, muskmelon, kiwi, grapes, strawberries, apples, plums, watermelon, work best because they hold their shape well on the skewers.

    Q. How do I stop apples from turning brown ?

Toss the chopped apple pieces with a little lemon juice before assembling. This helps keep them fresh and prevents browning.

    Q. Can I use frozen fruits for fruit skewers ?

Generally fresh fruits work best for this recipe because they hold their shape better. Frozen fruits can become soft and watery after thawing.
