Grilled Tofu Sandwich Recipe

I love making sandwiches, because they are so easy to make, taste good and filling too. I have quite a few sandwich recipes in my blog and this one is a addition to those..

I made this sandwich for oneday lunch for me and hubby. He loved it so much. We had this with a glass of green tea and it was perfect.
Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you..
Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 15 mins
Serves : 5 to 6

Ingredients:
Wheat Bread – 12 slices
Tofu – 200 grams cut into cubes
Oil – 1 tsp + as needed for panfrying bread
Onion – 1 large sliced thinly
Capsicum / Bell Pepper – 1 large sliced thinly
Chat Masala as needed

For Marinating Tofu:
Chilli Powder – 1 tblspn
Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi – 1 tsp
Cumin Powder – 1 tblspn
Salt to taste
Oil – 2 tblspn

For Green Chutney:
Mint Leaves – 1/2 cup
Coriander leaves – 1/2 cup
Green Chillies – 1
Garlic – 1 clove
Lemon Juice – 1 tblspn 
Salt to taste

Method:
Take green chutney ingredients in a mixer and make it into a smooth puree. Chutney done.
Now Take the mariantion ingredients in a plate. Put tofu pieces in it and mix well. 
Now heat a pan, add the tofu pieces in it and cook for 1 to 2 mins on each sides, Remove it in a plate. 
In the same pan, add 1 tsp oil and saute onions and capsicum for a min. Remove this to a plate.
Now assemble the sandwich. Take a bread slice, spread some chutney, place the onion capsicum mix and grilled tofu pieces. Sprinkle some chat masala. Cover with other bread.
Heat oil in a pan and toast the bread slices on both sides. 
Remove it and serve.

Take all your ingredients

Start by making green chutney..Take mint and 
coriander leaves in a mixer

add in green chillies

add in garlic cloves

squeeze in some lemon juice

add in salt

blend it till it is smooth

Take a block of tofu

cut it into pieces

look at the thickness

Now take chilli, cumin and turmeric powder in a plate

Add in some salt

drizzle in some oil

Mix well

Place the tofu pieces in the spices

rub it on both sides

Now place this hot pan

Flip over and grill on both sides

remove this to a plate

slice onions and capsicum thinly

In the same pan, add some oil

add in onions and capsicum

Toss well for a min

Remove it to the same plate

Take some wheat bread

add a good amount of green chutney over this

spread it out

add in some onions capsicum mix

place grilled tofu pieces

sprinkle some chat masala

You can add as much as you like..

Cover with another slice

Heat oil in a pan

Place the sandwich

flip over and cook

remove it to a board

cut it into pieces

enjoy

    This recipe looks great! I actually tried something like this a while back, and this just brought back so many nostalgic memories, haha! I love cooking stuff like this. I always try to find new recipes on forums and I got great ones emailed to me from http://lovelyrecipesforyou.weebly.com and I genuinely enjoy them. Anyways, thanks for posting this dish, I really need to make this more often!

    Healthy combo aarthi.. Tofu, whole wheat bread, and special is, its a no cheese version.. Love ur idea.. even i used to prepare the same coriander chutney for sandwich, never tired with sauted vegetables..
