Quick Spinach Dal Recipe – Keerai Paruppu Curry Recipe

This is one of the simplest dal you could ever make. It is easy to make and very nutritious. Great for kids and toddlers. I have quite a bit of dal recipes in my blog, since i make them many times a week. Each time i make it differently.

Preparation Time : 5 mins
Cooking Time : 15 mins
Serves: 3 to 4


Ingredients:

Yellow Moong Dal / Pasi Paruppu – 1/2 cup
Spinach – 3 cups chopped finely
Tomato – 1 large chopped
Green Chilli – 2
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
Water – 1 cup + more as needed
Salt to taste

For Seasoning:
Ghee – 1 tblspn
Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam – 1 tsp
Garlic – 4 cloves chopped finely


Method:

Take all the ingredients given except seasoning in a cooker. Pressure cook for 2 whistle. Turn off the heat and let the steam escape all by itself. Open the cooker and add salt and more water and bring it to a boil.

Now make seasoning, heat ghee and crackle cumin seeds and add garlic. Fry till golden. Pour this over the dal and mix well.

Serve with rice.

Pictorial:

Take washed moong dal in a cooker
add chopped spinach
add tomatoes, green chillies and turmeric powder
add water
mix well
pressure cook till done
mix well,add more water as needed
add salt
bring it to a boil
Make seasoning, heat ghee and crackle in cumin seeds
add little asafoetida
add garlic
fry till golden
add it into the dal
mix well
