    Kothu Mutton

    This is one dish which i tasted recently, hubby got it from a thattukada shop here in my place and it was delicious. I tried recreating it and it worked perfect.

    Try to use boneless mutton piece and you are allowed to over cook the mutton in pressure cooker. So the meat falls off the bone, so it will be easy for you to shred it.

    Ingredients for Kothu Mutton

    For Mutton:
    • Boneless Mutton - 500 grams
    • Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
    • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
    • Salt to taste
    • Water - ½ cup
    For Curry:
    • Coconut Oil - ¼ cup
    • Fennel Seeds / Saunf / Sombu - 2 tsp
    • Onion - 2 large sliced thinly
    • Green Chilli - 3 slit
    • Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tblspn
    • Curry leaves a handful
    • Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
    • Coriander powder - 1 tblspn
    • Garam Masala Powder - 1 tblspn
    • Salt to taste
    • Black Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
    • Coriander leaves a handful finely chopped

    How to make Kothu Mutton Recipe

    1. Take mutton and other thing given in a cooker and pressure cook for 12 to 15 whistle. Remove it from flame and let the pressure release all by itself. Open the cooker and set aside.
    2. Now heat oil in a pan, add fennel and sizzle.
    3. Add in onions, curry leaves and green chilli and saute for few mins.
    4. Add ginger garlic paste and mix well.
    5. Add in cooked mutton and the spice powder and mix well.
    6. Keep tossing it so the mutton shreds apart.
    7. Let all the water dry out. Keep tossing it up. Now add in pepper powder and mix well.
    8. Add in coriander leaves and toss well.
    9. Serve.

    Kothu Mutton Recipe Step by Step Picture

     
    take boneless mutton pieces in a pressure cooker
    add salt, chilli powder and turmeric powder
    add little water
    cook for 12 to 15 whistle and set aside
    take your other ingredients
    heat coconut oil in a pan, crackle in some fennel seeds
    add onions, chillies and curry leaves
    mix well
    add ginger garlic paste and saute well
    Add mutton along with water
    mix well
    add in chilli powder, coriander powder and garam masala powder
    mix well
    dry the curry by cooking it in high flame..keep mixing so the mutton pieces shred
    add pepper
    mix well
    crush with your ladle so it break apart
    now it is done
    add coriander leaves
    mix well
    Serve
