Simple Cabbage Dal Recipe

Cabbage dal is a very simple and basic recipe. I made this for my daughter and it turned out really good and delicious. I have been sharing so many dal recipes lately and i thought even though this is simple it will be a great addition to my list.Meanwhile check out my Papaya Kootu Recipe & Pumpkin & Cowpeas Kootu

Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you..
Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 30 mins
Serves: 6 to 8

Ingredients:Split yellow moong dal / Pasi paruppu – 1 cup
Cabbage – 4 cups chopped finely
Turmeric powder / Manjal Podi – 1 tsp
Green Chillies – 2 to 3
Tamarind Pulp – 2 tblspn
Salt to taste
Red Chilli flakes – 1 tsp
Ghee – 1 tblspn
Cumin Seeds – 2 tsp
Water as needed
Sugar – 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves a handful finely chopped


Method:Take dal in a bowl and wash it well. Add in cabbage, chillies, turmeric and water and bring it to a boil. Simmer the flame and cook for 20 mins till it is done.

Now add in salt, sugar, tamarind, chilli flakes and tamarind. Mix well. Simmer for 5 more mins.

Now heat ghee and crackl some cumin seeds. Pour this over the dal and mix well.

Top with lots of coriander leaves,

Serve with rice.

Take dal in a pan
wash it well
add in cabbage
cover with water
add some turmeric
add in some chillies
cook till done
add in tamarind pulp
season with sugar
add in salt
add in chilli flakes
mix well and simmer for few mins
Heat ghee in a pan, add in cumin seeds and let them sizzle…Pour that in
top with coriander leaves and mix well
Serve

    instead of chilli flakes can we add sambar powder ???
