    Millet Upma Recipe

    Upma is an easy go to breakfast idea in many home. It is quick to make and taste delicious as well. Why not try this foxtail millet upma instead of regular ones. These are delicious and is so healthy. 

    Ingredients for Thinai Upma

    • Thinai / Foxtail Millet - ½ cup

    • Oil - 1 tsp

    • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - ½ tsp

    • Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - ½ tsp

    • Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - ¼ tsp

    • Curry leaves - 1 sprig

    • Onion - 1 medium size chopped finely

    • Green Chilli - 1 chopped finely

    • Carrot - 1 chopped finely

    • Coconut - ¼ cup grated

    How to Make Thinai Upma

    1. Heat oil in a pan, Add in mustard, urad dal and cumin seeds, add curry leaves as well and let it splatter.
    2. In goes onions, chillies and saute for a min.
    3. Add in carrots and cook for couple of mins.
    4. Pour in thinai and stir well. Add water, salt and bring it to a boil. Cover and simmer for 15 mins till it is cooked.
    5. Add coconut and coriander leaves and mix well.
    6. Serve.

        1 to 2 whistle would be good. for 1 cup thinai use 2 cup of water.
