    Tuna Fish Masala Recipe , made Indian style with canned tuna, onions, ginger, garlic, tomatoes and spices turned into a delicious dish which can be served with rice or paratha, it can be served with toasted bread as well. You can enjoy this flavour packed canned tuna stir fry any time of the day.

    Tuna Fish Masala

    If you have a can of Tuna, this is a simple recipe to use it up. This entire dish comes to life in the addition of lemon juice. This is my way of using up a can of tuna. You could use the same recipe for left over cooked fish too. What is your way to use leftover fish???

    About Canned Tuna Masala

    Canned tuna is packed with protein and makes a quick, healthy meal. This Indian-style tuna dish is very easy to prepare and perfect for busy days. It tastes comforting and filling without much effort.

    This recipe uses simple ingredients like onion, tomato, ginger, garlic, and basic Indian spices. Everything comes together beautifully, giving the tuna a nice masala flavour. It doesn't taste boring at all and feels just like a homemade dish.

    You can enjoy this tuna masala with soft chapati, hot steamed rice, or even toasted bread. It works well for lunch, dinner, or a quick evening meal. Simple, tasty, and satisfying.

    Ingredients

    • Tuna - use canned tuna packed with water. Make sure to strain it completely.
    • Onions - Onions are finely chopped and added to form the base, adds aroma and taste.
    • Ginger & Garlic - It helps to remove the fishy taste from the tuna while making it so aromatic.
    • Tomato - You can use chopped tomatoes or even pureed tomato for taste.
    • Spices - use red chilli powder and garam masala powder for the Indian touch and aroma.
    • Lemon & Herbs - a drizzle of lemon juice and lots of chopped coriander leaves brings this dish to alive.

    Step by Step Pictures

    1)Start by draining a can of tuna through a sieve or strainer. Press and extract as much liquid as possible.

    2)Heat oil in a kadai and add in onions and cook till translucent.

    3)Add in ginger garlic paste and saute for few more seconds. Sprinkle in chilli powder, garam masala powder, salt and mix well.

    4)Add in tomato and cook for 3 min until it gets mushy.

    5)Now add in strained tuna and mix well. Cover this and cook for 5 min.

    6) Squeeze in lemon juice and coriander leaves and mix well.

    7)Toss well. Your canned tuna masala is ready.

    8)Serve.

    • 1 can Canned Tuna (packed in water)
    • 1 tablespoon Sunflower Oil
    • 1 large Onion peeled & chopped finely
    • 2 medium Tomato chopped finely
    • 1 tablespoon Ginger Garlic paste
    • 1 teaspoon Red Chilli powder
    • 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
    • 1 teaspoon Salt or to taste
    • 3 tablespoon Coriander leaves chopped finely
    • 2 teaspoon Lemon juice

    Instructions
     

    • Strain tuna through a fine mesh sieve. Press and extract as much liquid as possible. Set aside.
    • Heat oil in a kadai and add in onions and cook till translucent. Add in ginger garlic paste and saute for few more seconds. Sprinkle in chilli powder, garam masala powder, salt and mix well.
    • Add in tomato and cook for 3 min until it gets mushy. Now Add in strained tuna and mix well. Cover this and cook for 5 min. Squeeze in lemon juice and coriander leaves and mix well.
    • Serve hot with rice.

      I will never open open posts liek this before lunch has finished.Change of plans..but the fish I could use is still frozen.Ok will wait till dinner.Fantastic dish and fits perfectly in the weather we are having here .It snowed first time in all the years(15) I live here!!

      Great recipe! Tasty!!!! fast, healthy and just all round good. I followed all your steps only added a few more spices I had on hand (all completely optional like hing, awaijn, amchur etc - really not necessary!) The only thing I felt really lifted was a little sugar. But such a great fast recipe!! Thank you for the inspiration (uh, I think I might try this with tinned mackerel next week)
