Potato Croquettes Recipe

I love and adore croquettes, i have a special love for them. Because they are so easy to make and it taste so delicious. They even look so cute.

This is so easy to make, if you have kids around then you can make this for them and they will love it for sure..You can even add a piece of cheese cube in the center of the croquettes and then coat them in the other stuff, this makes them so cheesy and delicious..

Preparation Time : 5 mins
Cooking Time : 25 to 30 mins
Makes : 15 to 20 croquettes


Oil - 1 tsp + for deep frying
Onion - 1 medium size chopped finely
Curry leaves a spring chopped finely
Green Chillies - 1 chopped finely
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 2 tsp
Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Potatoes - 2 large boiled, peeled and mashed
Cornflour / Cornstarch - 1/4 cup
All Purpose Flour / Maida - 1/2 cup
Bread Crumbs - 2 cup


Heat oil in a pan, add in onions, curry leaves, chillies, salt and saute for a min.

Now add in all spice powders and toss well.

Pour this in mashed potatoes and mix well. Divide it into equal portions.

Take small portion, roll it into a cylinder. Do this for all croquettes.

Take cornflour in a bowl, add some water and make it into a paste.

Take one croquettes, roll it in some all purpose flour, now dip it in cornflour mix and roll it in breadcrumbs.

Repeat this for all potatoes. Now put the balls in fridge for 15 mins.

Heat oil for deep frying. Drop balls in, and fry till golden.

Drain and serve.


Take all your ingredients

Boil some potatoes
Peel them
grate it
All grated
Heat oil in a pan

Add in onions, curry leaves, green chillies

saute for a min

add in ginger garlic paste

sprinkle some salt

mix well

add in coriander powder

and some chilli and garam masala powder

mix well

add this to potatoes

mix well

Take a s

Shape it to a log shape

all done

Now take cornflour in a bowl

Pour water over it

Make it into a runny liquid

 Take a potato and roll it in some maida

Once it is well rolled

Dip it in the cornflour liquid

Once it is dipped in the liquid

Coat it in bread crumbs

Now it is all rolled

Do this for all croquettes

Put this in fridge for 15 mins

Now drop this in hot oil

Fry till golden


Enjoy hot

  9. I want to try this recipe, but whenever I try a recipe with bread crumbs while deep frying process the breadcrumbs are leaving out the balls and spread over the oil... this makes very messy oil with burnt breadcrumbs all over it...
    Pls give a tip on how to avoid this...

  10. @Breeze Pchilling the croquette for few minutes like 30 mins will help the breadcrumbs to set
